“UPDATE! I returned to this restaurant, now named “American Diner.” I ordered the same thing as before. Eggs, home fries, turkey bacon and grits. I also ordered a New York strip steak because that is what my bestie ordered on my last visit. Upon arrival I was immediately taken to my seat. There were plenty of other customers there as well on this Sunday morning. My servers name is Samantha. A very beautiful melanated woman who just happens to look like Clarissa Shields the current GWOAT of female boxing. She was one of the nicest and prettiest servers I’ve had. She was on top of her job and did it very well. There were no problems with my order and she asked several times throughout if I needed anything else. I dove into the grits first because that’s why I was there. I added butter, salt & pepper than dove in and to my surprise, they tasted a lot better than before. The previous time, they weren’t edible, but this time they were so I dug in. I cut the steak and ate a piece and noticed that it was a little tough and it needed more seasoning, but it wasn’t bad at all. I just added some table seasoning and some A1 sauce and everything was fine. The real test was eating the grits with the eggs and bacon I ordered. Well, I ate everything on the table and not once had to ask for a replacement or for something to be made over. It was cool sailing once my food hit the table. No, their grits aren’t the best and still need some work, but they are edible now and will not disappoint those who love them as much as I do. I was impressed with the cooks because the restaurant was packed and my meal was not under or over cooked. Everything turn out great considering how packed it was. I’ve taken the luxury of adding more stars to this review for atmosphere, food, service & overall quality. My name BigDaveIsFat says it all. “Get Your Grub On” folks! Check out the pictures below!“My first review! The grits were the nastiest I've ever attempted to eat. I sent them back seconds after they hit the table. My friends steak was 85 % fat/gristle making it next to impossible to eat. I am a superior grit maker and I suggested they remove this item from their menu until their staff learns how to prepare them properly. The grits you see in this picture were made me. “The food is pretty great, especially for our area! While their menu seems to have changed, the options are still great and we haven't ever found something that didn't interest everyone in our group. The staff are always great, and the atmosphere is so unique. Their Fried Pickles are AMAZING - 10/10 must try!“
“We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday at The Abbey! Malik coordinated everything perfectly. The Monk Rolls were a hit for every single one of our guests. The service was top-notch. Everyone complimented the cool space, too! Thank you, Chatty Monks in West Reading!“
“We stopped here to try the wings as recommended by positive reviews from google and friends that were very happy with the quality of food. The chipotle blue cheese wings were the best I have ever tasted. I never tasted an amazing wing sauce like that before. The wings were drenched in sauce and somehow still crispy. They were excellent. My fiancé had the cheesy bacon fries. The friends were incredible and the best she has had in a very long time. Shoe string fries were the game changer for her. The bar was packed and service was very quick and excellent. Oh and the death sauce wings gave me the meat sweats about the 3rd wing in??Parking: Off street parking available and within 1-2 minute walking distance.“
“I was recommended here by the good folks at Gem on Penn (just down the street), and I was not disappointed. I was in the mood for a smaller hot snack, and the taverns French onion soup was an excellent match to their truffle fries. It was a pleasant atmosphere. A busy but not crowded bar was full of smiling faces, cozy conversations, and attentive and smiling service. The food was prompt, delicious, and a great choice for a rainy afternoon. I'll be back on hungrier days to try more of the menu“
“Stepping into The Beer Wall, I was immediately struck by the unique and inviting atmosphere of this establishment. The concept of self-serve beer adds an innovative twist to the traditional pub experience, allowing patrons to explore a vast selection of craft beers at their own pace. The variety is impressive, catering to all tastes from the hoppiest IPAs to the smoothest stouts. But it's not just the beer that makes The Beer Wall a must-visit; the food here is equally remarkable. Each dish, from the gourmet burgers to the artisanal appetizers, is prepared with a level of care and quality that complements the beer selection perfectly. The flavors are bold and satisfying, turning what could have been a simple night out into a culinary adventure. The staff at The Beer Wall deserve a special mention for their friendly and knowledgeable service. They're always on hand to offer recommendations and insights into the beer selection, enhancing the overall experience. The Beer Wall is a standout destination for beer enthusiasts and foodies alike. Whether you're looking to explore new beer styles or simply enjoy a meal with some fun retro arcade games, you'll find what you're looking for here. It's a place I'll certainly be returning to and recommend to all my friends here on Facebook.RicoTheBarberPro, Whiskers Barber Company & Shave Parlor“
“We held a luncheon here after my father's funeral. The staff and service was amazing from the planning to the event. They made everything very easy during a difficult week for my family. The food was very good as well. Thank you so much!“
“My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday night out at Meraki Manor. We sat at the bar with Kearstin, and several "regulars" like Ed, and a nice mature couple from Geigertown. All were very welcoming. The food was fantastic. We shared Stuffed Mushrooms, Stuffed Shrimp, Scallops, and an amazing Filet. Got some Maryland Bisque, and Lemon Cake to go. Again, fantastic ! Best, best, food and atmosphere we have enjoyed in quite a while. Loved it ! Also, the owners, and the rest of the staff were equally as friendly. Can't wait to go back !!“
“Went on Saturday March 30 with three adults, Two Toddlers and an Infant. The host and waiter were extremely friendly and personable! Can’t say enough about how good of an experience we had! Staff was kind and accommodating to our party and the food was delicious! Great place and I will definitely be returning and recommending this place again and again!!Kid-friendliness: Thy have high chairs and a chair to put your infant seat on! All the staff was mindful of the children and very kind, plus they gave the toddlers crayons!Wheelchair accessibility: They have a wheelchair ramp / baby stroller ramp, and a huge parking lot!“
“Made reservations for 3pm for 5 adults and 3 children. We got there 10 mins before 3 and check in and they tell me that it will be an hour and a half wait! Like what are you talking about I made a reservation for 3 for 8 ppl and I have to now wait an hour and a half because you gave my table away before my reservation time. Wth kind of customer service is that and why even have it to make a reservation if they only going to give away your table to walk ins. So we decided to take tables side by side which was okay but very upset they gave table away for ppl that make reservations. If we decide to go back we are not gonna make reservations and see how that goes. Didnt know your considered a party if you have more than 7ppl. Waitress Courtney was awesome.“
“Kindness was present every step of the way. I did not get anything complicated so for me customer service was key. The manager, Victor and my waitress Abryana exceeded my expectations. Thank you from a stranger to this area, you made it feel like home.“
“This was my husband & I’s first time and we absolutely LOVED IT! Our server, Howard, was absolutely awesome—he was very helpful, fun, and made our experience joyful. The food and drinks were DELICIOUS—one of the best burgers I’ve ever had for sure!! We will definitely be back to see Howard, and to get some more burgers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND:)“
“Food: it was very tasty. However , my husband got the lobster Mac-n-cheese and gave it an “ok”. It lacked flavor. I had chicken primavera which I enjoyed but for the price I was hoping I’d actually get chicken in it. My father in law had 1 of the 3 that were available that evening pork chops special. he thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was good , the drinks were good but it seemed overpriced. Expect $16 cocktails. We still will go backService : our waitress offered to turn up lights for us. They also took off two of our desserts for our birthday dinner which was unexpected and generous.Atmosphere : it’s trendy , I love the decor , but it’s Dark !! We sat in corner and very little lighting . The waitress did offer to turn up lights but I didn’t want to bother everyone else’s experience . We still enjoyed our time and will go back“
“We went on burger night and they were indeed really good burgers, though the fries were underwhelming.Men's room is RIGHT by the entrance so be careful or you might bump into a guy who just peed and probably didn't wash his hands. It's very dark wood energy that reminds me of a men's lounge from the movies but over all a decent place to get a bite. Also they don't do take out at all which really bummed us out cuz someone in our party was sick and couldn't make it so we planned on getting take out for them but couldn't.“
“Always a pleasure eating at a local place with amazing foodSince i posted this review a year ago i have become quite a regular at this perfect establishment. Its family owned and operated, the employees makes you feel at home with laughs and jokes. There are no shortages or smiles and warm food here.Parking: A good amount of parking that can accommodate about 40 carsWheelchair accessibility: Establishment has an ada compliment ramp“
“I appreciated the customer service & warm donuts. It shouldn't be so difficult to find as I'm not in downtown Reading that often. Of course be prepared to pay the meters, but the donut & smoothie hit the spot. It wouldn't hurt to add more signs or neon lights directing you to this business. I'd make a return trip when I'm in the area.“
“I had a 2200 mile fiber optic contract in Pittsburgh, PA. It lasted 12 weeks. I went to Longhorns at least once a week if not more often. I love the Outlaw steak. That's all I ever get due to the fantastic flavors and tenderness. My youngest daughter (23 yrs) joins me with the Outback. But, the rest of my family enjoys the filets, Salmon, and chicken entrees.I know that almost $30 for the Outlaw could sound a little expensive. But, when you compare the same steak ($50) at other restaurants. Do the math.... I'm not naming the restaurant. I've had two $50 steaks. One absolutely the best. The other not even close!! I know Longhorn is always consistent.PS. You definitely have to try the sweet potatoe with butter and cinnamon! It's like dessert.“
“Town Hall / Firehouse diner closed awhile back and my brother and I just "discovered" this "Restauran-tey Americana Classico" tucked in the center of town. Ambiance? My 2 star is why we love these places..it's a Diner..the ambiance is " I am hungry, let's eat". Food was very good, prices were great, family owned and operated. We were very pleasantly surprised because we had passed this place dozens of times, now it is a comfort food destination.“
“We cannot speak highly enough about Stokesay, their entire team, and, most importantly, Hannah Kufro, our Wedding Coordinator that we worked with! My wife and I signed our venue contract one-year to the date ahead of our big day, with a different coordinator, one who ultimately ended up transitioning to a different organization just a week before our tasting was scheduled. For a couple planning a wedding, especially so close to their big day, this would normally have been an incredibly stressful change to hear about, however, we were expeditiously contacted by Hannah and met her days later at our tasting – immediately after meeting her we knew we were in great hands, and we both agree that our initial impression was spot on. Hannah’s attention to detail, flexibility, and knowledge have continued to impress ourselves, our parents, and our guests who experienced a phenomenal wedding just this past weekend. She not only hit the ground running with our event, but confirmed several details and was able to work with us to ensure our wedding day was as perfect as possible. While I have personally sent messages to several friends I know who are engaged and looking for venues, I wanted to share this note here for those couples looking for venues – Stokesay should 100% be on your list; the charm, history, venue, and staff will all make your big day as perfect as you could ever dream of – if anything, just go check it out – once you see this in person you’ll see exactly what we are talking about. With deepest gratitude,Blake and Lindsay Tobias“
“Aniyza, Sam, and Danny were an absolute dream team behind the bar! Their collective expertise and charm elevated the entire experience. From crafting exquisite cocktails to providing top-notch service with a smile, they set the standard for bartending excellence. Will be back…will be at the bar!“
“We had dinner at the Skylight Cafe and Bar before a concert at the Santander Performing Art Center (within walking distance). Skylight is a family run restaurant that specializes in Latin American cuisine. There are a few Italian entrees on the menu too. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. My wife had a grilled chicken Caesar salad and I had a marinated grilled skirt steak with a side of sweet plantains. We hadn’t had plantains before and they were wonderful. We shared the Tres Leches cake for dessert. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Skylight Cafe.“
“We've only once had a problem getting a table, and that was on trivia night. It's never empty, but never full, either. We go about 2x a month and it's always just right. The wing sauces are inconsistent because they're all homemade and they measure by eye, but the wings themselves are always cooked perfectly. Sandwiches are good, so are soups and pasta. Don't really have any real criticism other than each Klinger's location is different. So if you had a bad experience at one location, that doesn't mean the others will be the same.“
“First time there and we will be going back! The owner was so pleasant as was the staff. We had breakfast, which was great (and after seeing some of the lunch dishes being brought out we wished we stayed for lunch as well). Definitely will be going back!“
“A couple friends and I stopped at Forrest Inn to pregame prior to an event. Seems like your typical dive bar when walking in. But Harry was a one man show; serving up drinks, cooking, running food, and amazing customer service. The food has cheap prices with great flavor. I went back for a second basket of the fresh cut fries. Definitely worth stopping in and checking it out. Daily drink specials too“
“You feel like you're at a neighbor's house for some food when you eat here. Service is personal, atmosphere is comfortable. food tasted and looked more like home cooking so nothing fancy but still very good. Helps that it is low price.Parking: Limited parking so I'd guess that if it gets busy, might be hard to find a spot.“
“Stopped in before concert. Staff is exceptional, very friendly and accommodating. I had a Diablo shrimp dinner that was exceptional and the homemade guacamole is killer. Empanadas, steak fajitas delicious. Prices are very reasonable…parking is a little difficult in the area on a Saturday night . Will definitely be back.“
“Today, I appreciated the opportunity to eat at the cafe, but my first experience of eating “Gourmand cafe” food was from having it catered at a work event . I appreciate the colorfulness and explosion of flavors. Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality food for the price point. I have had their burgers, fries(much of speciality fries),southwest blacked chicken salad and they have some of the best homemade chips(for catered events). They have a-welcoming cafe atmosphere with a wide selection on the menu. Friendly, accommodating staff and portion sizes are plentiful. Vegan,GF,V options available.“
“Very good atmosphere, the drinks we ordered were very good and the food was more than good, no one in the group of more than 7 people said they didn't like their dish so I can say that the food was very good. This is a small complaint because I don't speak much English, the menus were very difficult to understand even for native English speakers.“
“Met 2 coworkers for lunch. I ordered the tuna melt which came with fries or side salad. I got the side salad and sandwich for $11. My coworker got the same order but with fries. My other coworker got the side salad with a panini sandwich. The server was great and the food was great also. We all just drank water which came to the table in a glass bottle. Would definitely return.“
“We stopped here for coffee and a snack and a brief business meeting on a Tuesday morning around 11AM. The service was attentive, the coffee was good and refills were readily offered. My husband had a bowl of baked oatmeal and a side of scrapple. I had a side of scrapple. Both were tasty. The prices were reasonable. Note that they are a cash only business and this is an old school diner with traditional breakfast items. There is an ATM on site. We were happy to find a local diner in the area.“
“My family and I are from Utah and we was in Reading visiting my son in college. We randomly chose this place off Google and I'm glad we went here. The guys were very friendly and the food oh my goodness was amazing. The only thing was the pork chops were a little dry but everything else was amazing. We got the fried chicken, chicken wings, fried pork chops, Mac n cheese, greens and fries. No complaints from us other than the pork chops little mishap but would definitely eat here again. Keep up the great cooking gentleman“
“Our first time there to celebrate my birthday, I was so happy with everything. We arrived 15 before closing, we thought it was 9pm but after our Awesome Dinner and speaking with our server she said No, it's 8pm, we want everyone to experience our restaurant. The food was so delicious, best meal ever, dessert was great and service wonderful. Highly recommend this hidden gem ❤️Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from entrance to dining room“
“Wonderful all around! Service, food and atmosphere were perfect. We loved everything about Judy’s and would go there again in a heartbeat. We were visiting from Connecticut (went to the Berks Jazz Fest) and decided to try Judy’s. The scallops and the chicken dishes were Spectacular. I even keep thinking about the delicious salad. Wish this place wasn’t 4 hours from home. ❤️?❤️“
“This place was nice. We started with nachos and I must say it was a big serving size! I went on to order their wings and fries. I am glad they place the sauce on the side because their wings are really delicious on their own. The fries were really good as well and they are not greedy in terms of how much they give. It was plenty. Also, don't get me started on the dessert we ordered...just perfection. Overall, the service was fast and everyone was kind.“
“We just LOVED coming for the first time today! Our hostess was so kind, and as we walked into the restaurant we were seated in such beautiful surroundings. To top it, the live band was fun playing great music. Our server was top notch and the food absolute quality. Quite delicious! We got burgers, and also the fish! When we return we will go for the pizza! It made our day, so pretty, and fun!“
“Okay, this spot is a gem! I’m quite a critic about taste, looks, and service and yo all ima say is they got the best wings in Reading, never would have thought. Im never disappointed with anything I try here!!! From the savory stuff to the sweets. I always have my lunch meetings here because its just so yummy and they have wifi! They are pretty quick despite being very busy and kinda small, I havnt had like OUTSTANDING customer service, but its not bad either hahaha. Just regular I guess, but yo that food tho!!! To die for“
“Had a good meal here recently with some colleagues from work. They had a nice special going on with $15 giftcards for every $100 giftcard purchased, so that allowed me to save a bit on the total meal cost. You can't buy these online but they'll even let you purchase them before your meal, so that worked out well. Service was lacking a bit. We had a very long wait time until someone came to our table, and we had wine ordered and served before anyone had even taken our orders or served us bread. One of the proprietors was on wine duty and seemed determined to pour out the entire bottle rather than leaving it there for us, which I also found a bit odd. Overall the flavors of the food were good, but the staff were very much going through the motions, and our server never really engaged with us or asked us anything about why were there and while the dining room was busy, it wasn't so busy that we couldn't have been welcomed a bit more. When you have such a good wine list and such a nice property I expect the staff to be shining at service. Instead, I got the service I would have gotten at Chipotle, which is "good enough" there, but not here. I'll still probably be back, but if they don't knock it out of the park next time, I won't be. Too many other places I can give a shot to.“
“We asked our server to please put fresh lettuce on the salad bar, and he did. I personally dont care for whatever the meat is on the salad bar... I don't think it's ham! We were kindly moved to another booth when the gentleman next to our first booth became ill.“
“We stopped in before the Tom Segarra show last night. It was very busy but both the staff we interacted with were amazing and attentive and doing their best to get to everyone as quickly as humanly possible. As a bartender I notice those things so we waited a few minutes for a drink but not because they were not hustling and noticing who had been waiting a bit longer. The female bartender was lovely I didn't get her name but I complimented her hair and her curls and she took a moment to tell me how to do it myself..... She also got us our tab quickly so we could get to our show on time. Little things like that mean a lot thus the 5 stars across the board!! We will definitely be back soon for the wings????“
“The best breakfast-brunch-lunch-dessert place anywhere around! There is definitely something for everyone so it's great for meeting people there. Breakfast items are available all day :) There are multiple meat-free options. The falafel is one of my favorites. Today, I had a spinach feta pretzel wrap, and the braided soft pretzel was so good! I am especially called to this place in the colder months because there are so many comfort food options. The weekly specials add variety, but I always have a tough time choosing from the regular menu. I just really need to get here more often!!“
“The New York strip was not seasoned at all or seared. Tasted like it was stuck in the oven and then on the plate. The pancakes were extremelt dry. The bacon tasted like it was 2 days old. The coffee was cold. The waitresschecked on us once. I wanted a drink but couldn’t get her attention. There were 3 tables since they just opened.“
“Third Rail is one of our go-to local spots for burgers and apps! Their bleu cheese burger is my favorite, but I like most every burger I've tried there. Their menu is reasonably priced, and the location is cool -- right near a train track (hence the name). Other sides/appetizers we typically choose when dining in are their pierogis, quesadillas and of course their Old Bay fries. So good!“
“Excellent staff and food Enjoyed our evening not jammed packed and the blacked salmon was cooked perfect. Very friendly waitress and the manager even came over to speak to us. Great evening. We will be back. It's a club but you can try it out without joining“
“Can’t go wrong with breakfast and this place is better than the others in this area . Great atmosphere and very clean. Love the decorations and the French toast combo was excellent. Watched the chef from a distance and he looked very pleasant. So much food I got a box ?“
“I was DUMMY hungry and stumbled upon this fine establishment. Upon arrival Sophia got us seated and was able to receive my food in a fantastic reasonable amount of time. I'm definitely coming back next time I get my vacation days approved. Will tell all my friends and family about this place.“
“Walking in we were greeted by Kenny the owner. We sat at bar and enjoyed our service there with a very knowledgeable and friendly barmaid. The food was excellent and it was a very pleasant experience.Parking: Very spacious parking lot in the back.“
“Being from Central Jersey, I've gotten accustomed to the hustle and bustle of daily life. But when I head into the woods or the hills the piney in me comes out. I love small town America and down to earth people. Welcome to Shades of Green. We were out in the hills of Pennsylvania and the family was hungry. We're sick of the standard chain restaurants and just wanted a local place to get lunch. We just stumbled upon this little gem.Ok, so the parking is a little sketchy. But then again, this place is a local joint so I'm sure the locals are accustomed to it. Once you get inside it's like walking back in time. The clock literally slows down. This is the way America used to be, the way it was meant to be.The food took a little longer then we expected, but we soon found out why. It appeared to be all freshly made. That's right, no frozen Bubba Burgers here. Real burgers on real buns. And no skimping on the fries here, we got a full old school serving. My son opted for pickle fries which were odd but actually pretty good! I got an S.O.G burger, which was fantastic. My only gripe was that it didn't come with lettuce and tomato, though, in hindsight, if I asked I'm sure it wouldnt have been a problem. The service was personal and friendly. We were made to feel right at home. And it was considerably less expensive then the mediocre fare found in Central NJ.If you're even remotely close by here you need to stop in. Old school service with homemade quality leading to an amazing experience. Put the hustle and bustle behind you, find that inner piney, and get yourself a taste of what America was always meant to be. Get yourself a taste of Shades of Green.“
“I love the elegant, mature atmosphere here especially in the bar area. The service is always outstanding. The food is always delicious, never disappoints. Summer time the patio & live music is a nice change of scenery. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!“
“Service was outstanding. I was able to easily obtain a fantastic ribeye (medium rare, great flavor), with all the sides and fixin's to go. Even though they were quite busy, my takeout order was quick (hadn't even finished my drink), on a Saturday night even. I will be sure to dine here again on my next trip.“
“We had my son’s 3rd birthday party here recently and everything was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful, the space was clean, and the ice cream was amazing. We were allowed to move around tables and hang things on the wall which is really rare when you rent a place for a party. All the guests commented on how amazing this place was. We will definitely be back and will try to have my son’s party here next year.“
