Sooo Delicious Soul Food Cafe

This is a small black owned soul food restaurant. I heard a lot about this restaurant and was excited to go and try their food. Especially since it's been a while since I've been in the neighborhood. It's very small with just a tiny space to sit and eat your food if you choose. The kitchen is just opposite side of the wall when you walk in. I was greeted by a nice cashier who took my order. There are no paper menus, but a menu on a big TV screen. I ordered grilled salmon with rice, Mac and cheese and collard greens. My order was to go. I waited about 15 minutes. When I got a chance to eat my food, the salmon was very dry, Mac and cheese ok and the collard greens had great flavor but could have been cooked a little longer in my opinion.

Went a Sunday to get a meal, had a taste for Salmon but the lady said they were sold out. ??I ordered fried whiting, collard greens and yellow rice. When I finally got back to my hotel, the food was packed up well. Everything was seasoned well. The yellow rice was a bit luke warm side but edible. The portion size is comparable with pricing. I was full and didn't even finish the whole meal.I would definitely patronize again and I will order ahead.

Lazy Sunday did not feel like cooking so I check Yber Eats and found Sooo Delicious and trust me they chose the right name the food was Just that Yummy. We got the whiting yams and greens, and also the garlic park wings and can’t forget the cornbread both portions were huge, enough for 2 people sorry no picks ate it before I could snap any I already went in. Definitely would order again and look how much is left

Very good! I live in Jersey and found this place on line and I am so happy I did! Very good soul food spot! I had the fried salmon, Mac and cheese and broccoli. Everything was so delicious. The young lady who answered the phone and took our order was extremely sweet and even called us back to let us know everything was ready. Amazing Customer service!! Thank you for a great meal on a friday night?

I’m not sure how this place got a 4.6 star. The food was not that great, The cabbage had too much salt and garlic in it. The collar greens were So-so I wish they would’ve cooked the greens with smoked turkey that probably would have made the flavor taste a little better. The chicken wings was not crispy at all, more so soggy. The best thing was the cornbread and the packaging.

I wanted to get a picture but once I tasted the food I wanted to enjoy it, I ordered a fried catfish platter with yams, greens and yellow rice. I order through Uber eats, the fish was still super crispy once I got it. The yams taste like candy. The greens were tender and flavorful. They also have the best yellow rice I have ever had. The crystal hot sauce packets won me over as well. I am excited to visit their restaurant.

Good food! I ordered two platters. One was fried chicken wings, cabbage and Cajun rice. The cabbage was sweet and a little spicy. The rice was bland and I needed to add salt and the wings were great.The other platter I ordered was fish, Mac and cheese and greens. I haven’t ate it yet but I will edit my review when I do. I have high hopes for it. Will order from here again.

I was really looking forward to eating here for awhile now. Last time I was in town I just didn’t make it. But today I was determined to get there. So I walked from 17th st. I made it… it was a little warm in there. I know keeping cost down is so important in small business. Mayb tint the windows or put some pretty drapes or shades for the sun. It could help keep it a little cooler in there. Was so disappointed not to try the Yams! They were out! I had the fried salmon since normally I always get grilled. It was good. The greens tasted like greens. But my other disappointment was the Mac & cheese. The texture and taste was just not it for me. Next time I hope to try the cabbage & those yams!

I ordered through UberEats. My food arrived fresh and seasoned perfectly. This was the best meal of my trip!

Angel & Aminah are incredible! The flavors incorporated into the Mac & Cheese dissolves you into flavor heaven. The spices distributed evenly. Provides the warmth of comfort of grandma's dining room on thanksgiving evening. The portions are plentiful to share. The collard greens are so so so fresh. Reasonably priced as well. Friendly and cordial staff. The exemplary service was superb. Thank you for the excellent hospitality and welcoming smiles.

The fried whiting reminded of the fish fries my family used to have when I was growing up in Virginia, so props for that. The greens and Cajun rice were yummy as well. Can’t wait to try the yams (they were still cooking when I went). More of a takeout jawn. There are a few tables if you want to eat there, but they’re cramped.

I rarely ever leave reviews but my first time here I was very excited to try the food. Was kinda a wait but when I got my food the portions was nice and the food tasted good they owner even gave me a free cake. So today I decided to order again because i was so impressed last time but this time around I was very disappointed. This time instead of going into the store to order I ordered over the phone. When my order was picked up I was surprised of the portions that I received. Due to the fact that my portions was a good size my first time around and I don’t know if it’s was because it was first time and you guys wanted to leave a everlasting impression I am not sure. You guys are on the more higher end when it’s comes to the food which I don’t mind paying but when the portions don’t match it’s kinda a disappointment. Maybe it was an off day or maybe running out of food!!!

I was so excited to try this new restaurant in my neighborhood. I went in around 7, ordered the mac and cheese and the hostess asked me to wait, she went into the kitchen, came out and said we can’t do that. Not sure what the issue was but I definitely didn’t feel welcomed. The attitude, death stare she was giving off was not cute and certainly not one of any restaurant trying to be successful should want representing them.If this persists, like other restaurants in that spot, you will be out of business before you know it. I’ve seen many come and go…I hope it’s not the case, I do wish your business success but the young lady in the front needs to go or be trained how to be kind.Life ?? Is ?? too ?? short ??. ☮️

This place was so much love when you walk in. From the cooks to the young ladies assisting in customer service. The food, so good! I let the chef give me what she felt I should have, and she nailed it! They are so welcoming and I will be a regular here for years to come! Thank you again guys.
