About Zhangliang Malatang

Zhangliang Malatang is a well-loved malatang restaurant in Philadelphia that offers a variety of ingredients to choose from, including fish balls, tofu, mushrooms, vegetables, and meats. Customers can select their ingredients, which are then cooked in one of four broth options: original mala, mushroom, tomato, or Tom Yum. The mala broth is spicy but not unbearable, making it a flavorful choice for those who enjoy a bit of heat. The restaurant features a DIY sauce bar for added customization, allowing diners to create their own sauces. The noodles are thin and best enjoyed with a drink, as they can be difficult to finish on their own. Many customers find the dining environment casual, with attentive staff that enhances the experience. Zhangliang Malatang is especially appreciated on cold days, with many noting its spicy, flavorful, and healthy dishes, including rice bowls that add a salty, savory touch. The restaurant charges by weight, with a minimum of one pound, making it easy to get enough food for sharing. Overall, it’s a quick and easy spot for hotpot cravings, offering a variety of flavors and a friendly atmosphere. Customers have praised the excellent food and the pleasant staff, noting that the variety of bases and ingredients can appeal to anyone's palate. The restaurant is also seen as a great value, with a price of $13 per pound, and the sauce station helps enhance the flavor for those who want it.

Wow, what a gem if you enjoy Asian soup or stir fries. It was well worth it.

This place doesn't provide water. You have to pay for that. Feels like a thirst trap (forceing us to by a beverage) as the soups are somewhat salty.

Friendly service

This is a good spot to go to if you have a hot pot craving but don't want to do AYCW
