Lukewarm was the best experience I’ve ever had at this place. If given the chance request to get your meal hibachi’d by lukewarm

So I almost didn't write a review but had I read something similar I would have changed my reservation. First this is a 100% Hibachi style restaurant, there are no tables or booths to sit and dine on sushi or a meal like a sesame chicken. You are sat at a hibachi table and succumbed to suffer the whole “show” of flipping forks and knives. Tommy was great and entertaining but if you just want to have a quiet meal, enjoy some saki and have private conversation this isn't the place. Food was ok, as in almost all hibachi meals... over loaded with salt. When I asked the chef at the sushi bar if they had toro (fatty tuna) he replied “no we almost never get toro”. Red flag number one ... ANY good sushi place will or should have toro on the menu. It's loud so don't expect romantic ambiance at a hibachi restaurant. I ordered a mango mojito and it was 50% mint leaves, 25% ice and 25% liquid. Should have gone with a beer. Won't be back unless it's my daughter's 10th birthday and I need my eyebrows singed and I want to meet strangers at a hibachi table. The reason for 3 stars? You get plenty of rice and leftovers if you choose the hibachi and the Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly. Great place if you want to do a saki bomb with 7 drunk friends.

Awesome experience!!!! Great family atmosphere for my wife and 3 children! We were in Pittsburgh for AAU basketball tournament. Best sushi and hibachi we’ve had in years if not best ever! Our server was the best, polite and courteous right on time what ever we needed. Our Hibachi chef the best we’ve ever had food wise, skill wise and companionship conversation wise. We had a blast! Highly recommended!

Nakama means 'friend' in Japanese. In this case, the friend will feed you some of the most delicious food known to man. I recommend the Imperial Feast - great choices, and the Tuna is exceptional. So if you have no Nakamas, go yourself - the food will keep you company.

My hibachi dinner was good but the soup, salad and hot sake I got was terrible. Service was slow , it was not that clean and only one server was working. I used to love to come to this place when I came in to visit but now I will re-think and find another hibachi restaurant option. Sad to see because it's a great place.

It was our last night in Pittsburgh. We were here for work. So my husband, I and one of our friends decided to go for hibachi. Looked up some places came across this one, it had great reviews. So we head over there. This was last night April 4th, 2024. We arrived at 755pm. Parking was tricky. We walked in and were greeted and seated immediately. More people came to join the hibachi table. Kat/Cat not sure how she spells here name. Took our drink order. Drinks came. Then she came back to take our order for dinner. So we sat and we sat and we sat. Kat/Cat was not very attentive. To say the least. There were two groups of people behind us celebrating birthdays. The atmosphere was good. Well it had been an hour by this time. We were wondering where the chef was to cook our meal. I asked the Kat/Cat where the person was that was gonna cook for us. She said she would check on it. We were completely ignored. She hardly came to the table to check on our drinks. Ice was completely melted and beers empty. It was very upsetting. I was getting pissed. My husband told me to keep my cool. Well at 915 pm the cook comes to finally cook for us. The food was done in an order I wasn’t Familiar with. Cooking meat first. We didn’t get our seafood with the meat. Everything about it was backwards and upside down. He didn’t interact at all. The food was just ok. Not delicious. I was starving so I ate it. I asked the waitress where our appetizer was. She asked him. Oh he says I have it. U could pick the mushroom or shrimp. The three of us ordered the shrimp. That came last. Just off. Really off. The couple next to us were seated way after us and their cook was at their station within 15mins. They were there celebrating their anniversary. Their guy was interactive and pleasant. What a complete disappointment. I was really upset. And the pouring were very small. And by the end Kat/Cat had an attitude with us. Not sure why we were getting this treatment. Needless to say we will not be back. Completely unacceptable. Service was terrible. We will be back in this area for two months next month. We will def look for another hibachi to go to. We spent a good amount of money there and it was just awful. Oh well ya live and learn. Money not spent well at all.

Besides now having to pay for soup and salad, which is always part of any other hibachi restaurants dinner, the recipes seemed totally different and the salad dressing was super salty. We have been coming to Nakama since it opened. It has always been one of our favorites. Now with the portions being so much smaller then ever, the recipe change and the now even higher prices we will be looking for other hibachi options in the future

We were there for an early dinner and, as always, the food was great and the people were even better! In all our years going to Nakama, those two things are what keeps us coming back.

This is a well put-together place with helpful staff, but I wouldn’t choose this as a place to spend a birthday or special occasion. Pretty casual area, might have some loud, party insiders sometimes due to the location , but overall, this is a nice place to have a casual dinner with your friends or partner. Not pricey at all, probably less expensive than Benihana. My only complaint was the taste of our food, it was a little salty, but we still enjoyed the experience. Sushi is great!
