Cellar on Penn itself has closed, but the wine tasting is now being held at their storefront up the street at 2519 Penn Avenue. We had a fabulous time. Steve and Kathy were so friendly and knowledgeable. The wines we sampled were all excellent. I highly recommend this experience.
Even though we had to wait little bit for our food. It was tasteful and worth it. We love coming to cellar on penn. the food is always fresh and delicious.
Showed up to this place at 5:45 to get a bottle of wine and the door was locked even though it was advertised online to be open. I called them and they answered. I asked them if they were open and they said they were closing at 6. I said, “okay. It’s 5:45 and the door is locked” he said, “yeah” and that was it. Clearly this place doesn’t want business so i wouldn’t waste your time.
I have had good experiences at Cellar on Penn - but last night we went for a birthday dinner. They were out of 3 of the 6 main entrees and we weren't told until right as we were ordering. Having two gluten free guests and one who doesn't eat meat - we weren't able to actually get dinner. The staff was nice and apologetic but it was disappointing to have to leave without an actual meal.
Sat downstairs had a great time
Our experience here could not have been better. Beyond the excellent food our server was phenomenal and made a very special birthday memory for my mother-in-law. A must-go, yinzers and visitors - you will not regret it!
Bought 3 bottles at their store in Pittsburgh - just awful, old tasting aweful never bying again
Terrible experience. The chef did not want to prepare our food. The audacity of offering a service and be disgruntle rendering the service. My wife’s steak was well over temperature. We politely informed our server Craig, who was very pleasant. The next steak came out was raw. The chef came out and was rude. Our entire party was astonished at the unprofessionalism. We were so uncomfortable. To be completely honest there was a lot to complain about, the food was cold, the sauce was broken, my sister in laws plate never came out she scavenge on our plates. Worse experience ever!
They booked us for 7:30pm and no one called to tell us they closed the kitchen. I was taking someone out on a date and it was very unprofessional. We ordered and then were told there was no food. Our waiter was awesome though and very apologetic.
We went in for the wine tasting . It was a wonderful experience! The wine was delicious we actually got a mix case too take home. The charcuterie platter was wonderful and went with all the wines very well. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and explained all the wines and helped us pair food with them for the most robust taste. We will definitely be going back .

Very attentive and helpful waiters. Food and wine were excellent. Nice place to sit and have a conversation. Not too noisy.
As usual, great venue, food and service. Thank you to all who were there and to R Cellar for continued support.
Absolutely delicious wines and amazing bartenders. We stopped to try some wine from Wendy and enjoyed it so much we had to have a glass! Our bartender Denzel was great to chat with and knowledgeable about the wines. Great place for a happy hour with only $5 glasses! Will definitely be back!
Jake is the best guy ever! Helped us find the right wine, super friendly, super nice. 10/10 service
