The Church Brew Works offers a unique dining experience with excellent German-inspired Pittsburgh pub cuisine, including the German mac and cheese and Malted Bread Pudding. The brewery's beer selection is impressive, and the atmosphere is striking, with "pew" style booths and stained glass windows. The former Catholic chapel's original features are still intact, creating an eclectic vibe. Friendly service and good food, such as the buffalo chicken pierogi sauté and phenomenal French onion soup, make for a great casual dining experience. The pork chops were alright, and the shrimp and lobster mac and cheese was good but a little overpriced. Parking can be limited, but the unique fusion of brewery and chapel aesthetic makes it a must-visit off the beaten path. Some may feel uneasy about the beer brewing at the altar, but the beautiful architecture is still highlighted.
