I went recently to see Sacred Monsters who were in town from Philly. It was the lead singer, KP’s birthday and we wanted to do something special for her. Long story short, Toy is amazing. Not only did she help with the surprise but she… on her own… ordered cupcakes for KP since I couldn’t find a cake that met her dietary restrictions. She was so helpful and enthusiastic about helping. I can’t wait to go back.“

“What a delight this place is and a boon for the neighborhood! Weather at stand-up comedy or musical acts from around the world, it is a Timeless warm and welcoming neighborhood gathering place. And right next to the police station makes it feel a little safer even though every time I go I find myself walking through a mysterious cloud of weed on the street 😆“

“If you like hood bars this is the place to go. They have pool tables and food but I never ate there but I heard the food is BOMB! You also have to try those jello shots that Auntie makes which are very strong. My only GRIPE is that they use the state regulated pours so the bartenders really can't show you little love but at least they don't charge you an arm and a leg“

One of the best parts was the drinks. They were very affordable 🍹 and the pours were definitely generous, which is always a nice surprise. The cocktails were made well and tasted great, so they definitely did not disappoint.

I also heard from a few people that their chicken is really good, so that’s something I’m planning to try the next time I visit 🍗. If it’s as good as the drinks, I’m sure it’ll be worth it!

“Such an iconic Pittsburgh bar. Always something going on here, especially live music. Had the smoked wings which were a 10/10. The bartenders are awesome. There's a TV mounted on the wall so the people at the bar can watch the show, nice. Had a blast. Place was packed. Also, the biggest urinal in Pennsylvania.“

“We won a gift certificate from my favorite non-profit, Hilltop Horizons.org I didn't know I liked Cider until we stopped at the Brewery at Soergels in Wexford. We tasted several samples before we ordered a growler that was perfect for 2 of us. We sat inside as it was a bit windy that day. There is great outside seating as well. There were board games available to play and great views of the farm. We tried the sorbet on the way out. It was delicious!! We also picked up a 6 pack to enjoy later. “My most American trait is that I eat more burgers than any other food. That said, the bacon cheeseburger here is simply the best I have ever had in my life. It's definitely my favorite burger in Pittsburgh. It is a 9.5/10 or better nearly every time. The grainy mustard and mayo is genius. The fries are also great. Service is typically solid even when they're busy.“

You've found it...at the R BAR... 5 mins. from downtown(avoid rush hour) The owner is a semi-retired musician..and his wife besides being a "Hottie" LOL..Is the salt of the earth...If you make it there on Sundays..You'll find one of the best"Bloody Mary's" around...and a 6 piece band called "The Midnight Horns" who all lead their own bands doing the week,but come together at the R BAR to roar..(Jazz,R@B,Blues)..I must also mention 2 of the best bartenders around..Toni and Billy.will treat you like family...So why not give the R BAR 5 stars? Only because of it's size,and no food..however a Pizza parlor opened next door with a wide variety of treats...good enough to feed those Boilermakers..from the R BAR...“
