I like the fries as well, but they have a bit too much seasoning for me. I also enjoyed the blonde beer. The staff is also pretty cool never had an issue with them. “I sometimes have a hard time finding this little neighborhood bar. It's a gem. I feel like it's kind of like a phantom bar that phases in and out of existence, like something out of Brigadoon. It defines the word 'cozy'. The food went from reheated pizza to (now) very respectable bar food. It's always chill here, and the prices are right. Bar staff are consistently friendly. It's good that this place is hard to find. It's for locals, and people that know how to behave in bars. If you can't respect that, you shouldn't go.“

“Gordo's is great! Let me preface this review by saying I love Nashville Hot Chicken but outside of Nashville, TN is has been difficult to find a "hot" chicken that compares to what I've had in Tennessee. Some other places around the Burgh have Nashville Hot Chicken but the spice combinations don't work. At Gordo's the Nashville Hot Chicken Taco is so good with a perfect spice blend. It tastes like hot chicken tacos that I had at Pie Town Tacos in Nashville. Gordo's is the place in Pittsburgh to satisfy your hot chicken craving. Not to mention, their other menu items are delicious too. And they have great margs. My second favorite menu item is the Churoli- A churro and cannoli hybrid that rocks!“

“Paying homage to the steel workers who would (allegedly) bring a steak to work for lunch, slap it onto a cooling steel bar to sear it, and then flip it and repeat before eating, North Shore Tavern lives up to this age old tradition and modernizes it.A lightly (and deliciously) seasoned chunk of meat is brought out on a STEAMING hot stone. The aroma is amazing from the start. Grab your fork and knife, and then cut the meat into slices to finish up to your desired doneness.I opted for the lamb, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a LONG time. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked exactly how I liked it, since I was the one finishing. Top it off with their chimichurri and it was literally worth writing home about ( I called my fiancée on the walk back to the hotel).Without a doubt a gem of Pittsburgh“

“My girlfriend and I went here not sure what to expect, but we had a great time. Our host for our booking was very kind and explained the rules of how curling worked and worked with us to teach us how to properly throw. He also helped us keep score. He was very encouraging and kind and made our experience fun. The rinks were groomed nicely-not like the olympics but for a local curling venue-was very pleased. Just want to thank the staff for their friendliness and fun that we had. I cannot remember his name, but he was a big reason of why we enjoyed this experience.“

They have a large bar menu with local brews & cocktails. Their menu is really big with lots of options. I love the cheese sticks & zucchini plank appetizer - it comes with marinara and a horseradish sauce that is delicious. My go to has been the Turkey Rachel. It's delicious and very filling. It doesn't come with a side but we always get a basket of fries for the table to split, they're crinkle fries too (my favorite). Service is always quick and friendly. I always forget to take pictures though, but trust me, you don't want to miss out on this spot!“

“Came in for an EAGLES SUNDAY!! Our servers were the most friendly and attentive ladies. My dad and I split the classic 1 with no swiss and an order of hot garlic parm wings. The sandwich was great. The rye bread was lightly toasted and the red pepper relish was just the right amount of heat. The wing flavor was great and they were a decent size. We wished they were a little more crispy, but they were definitely a solid 8/10 as is. The fries were pretty good! They were lightly seasoned, but also not super crispy. They have two bathrooms, one downstairs and one outside. My dad said the one outside was clean, but the con is that you have to walk outside to get there. The decor inside is great. You can tell they love sports. The vibe is exactly what you want for a game day. I'll be back!“

Murphy's Tap Room Bar • $
1106 S Braddock Ave, Pittsburgh

“Murphy's a great, old-school, no-fuss dive bar with a dying neighborhood vibe, which the next generation will not know that they are missing until it's too late. It's super friendly, but in representation by the staff and the locals that crowd around the bar, and as it's a cash establishment, it's more than affordable. It's a real dive bar, so the beer and drink selection will not be too extensive, but if you're looking for 60 different kinds on a rotating tap, you're in the wrong place. It's dimly lit but no longer smokey, which is great when you just want to hide from the world.Nothing bad to be said about the place, and it's nice to be treated like you're part of the neighborhood, even as a married-on person (my husband lived here about a decade earlier, and so he's still recognized by staff and regulars).“

They used to have an awesome bowl with veggies and we planned on eating this for dinner after play. Unfortunately that item is gone. My husband and I are vegan for health reasons and other than a side salad and rice, there are no options unless we wanted to pay full price for a salad with meat in it and hold the meat. “Having moved away, it's been thirty ish years since I last had a Primanti bros sandwich, and it's still as tasty as ever. Sure, slaw and fries in the sandwich may seem a little gimmicky, but it goes together well and you can see how it would have been convenient for workers/drivers in the strip district.Anyway, it's a busy sports bar. And a bit of Pittsburgh history, though you might not be able to tell since they're busy selling sandwiches and aren't trading on their local fame. Maybe the original shop in the strip district will have more memorabilia type of stuff. The Oakland one doesn't... And doesn't have room for it. IIRC the Oakland location was their first expansion out of the strip district. Now they have many locations in the greater Pittsburgh area.“
