“Skipped breakfast so I was halfway looking for a brunchy option when I stumbled into El Tikal. With a quality lunch special section, plus your everyday Mexican favorites and a great variety of meat, seafood and veggie dishes, I had a hard time deciding. I'm usually a combo order kind of guy, but I had to throw together my own little lunch variety pack, add Santa Fe (breakfast) burrito. Plantains always hit for me, but these were extra caramelized and gooey so I had to portion them out between the beginning and end of the meal. The mole sauce on the chili relleno was smokey and not as spicy, but really well-balanced. The tamale with red sauce seemed less flavorful than the other dishes, but I'm no tamale expert and I've been hanging out with a lot of Italians recently. The Santa Fe burrito was out of this world: the eggs, nice and crumbly with tons of seasoning and flavor, the cheese-covered chorizo oozing into each bite. I need this again, and I'm sure there's so many other incredible things on the menu to explore, but this is truly a hearty and unique item worth coming back for.“

“I was nearby visiting my wife in the hospital, and I remember seeing some young man wearing a Chicanos t-shirt near my house which is about 1.5 hours away.
So I decided to go by and get a couple of items to go and eat them when I got home.
By the time I got home it was really late, but I decided to taste everything anyway and it was absolutely fantastic!
Much better tasting than I was expecting and they were very generous with everything and their portions.
I got the pork posole, which came with a couple of bean tostadas! To my excitement and surprise! And the Posole?
Was both chicken and pork cooked into the stew, but here you have to choose whether you want to have pork or chicken. So this is something I was not used to and I thought I was going to be disappointed.
Having chosen pork, when I rewarmed it the next morning I was unbelievably surprised at how fantastic this was, easily some of the best posole I've had in a decade!
A carne asada burrito, which came with chips and salsa.
And I remember thinking to myself when I picked up the burritos oh my gosh this thing is really a big burrito! I haven't seen a real size burrito since I left the West Coast in 2010! ? The taste was absolutely fantastic and it even had grilled jalapenos in it which just kicked the flavor up another notch!
Not to be not to sound arrogant, but this Salsa was so good, it was like if I made it myself, super fresh! ?
I have to say my favorite thing was the chorizo tacos!
Anyone that grew up with real Mexican chorizo and knows what they're exactly it's supposed to taste like and these tacos absolutely did!!
Chicano's, Let me know if you guys sell your t-shirts, cuz I would absolutely and gladly wear one all over! I need a size XL! ?

The food was exceptional but we were most impressed with the great energy and generosity of the Staff that was working.

“I Had* been trying every single place within 50 miles of the Poconos, i even went to NY to try to find really good tacos, I have to say this is the best place you can go for real Authentic Mexican Cuisine this side of Philidelphia food truck tacos! I have since brought my family and friends and we can all agree this is the best place to eat in Scranton. Enjoy!“

“I don't leave a whole lot of reviews but this place is above par. I am not one bit surprised all the reviews so far are 5 stars. I ordered delivery, they called to clarify a discrepancy in my order. Food was here in less than 30 mins and it was hot, fresh and so absolutely delicious! I feel like I just ate a home cooked meal that's been cooking all day. The guacamole is amazing. It's a must get.
Tacos the Monterey is worth getting. The house made chimichurri should be bottles and sold in stores.

They had a stage and probably have a band on some days.

Not a ton of tables unsure if it ever gets really busy but was there around 330pn on a Saturday.

“I've been here a handful of times, and the food is always excellent. The dishes are full of flavor, and the ingredients are fresh. The staff are always really nice...many of them do not speak a lot of English, you just have to get creative with communication sometimes. They clearly know their stuff when it comes to the food. The atmosphere is great-the decor is really colorful and the restaurant is simple and clean. One of our favorite spots for going out to eat.“

“The owner made margaritas for us and they were delicious. No mix used, which is bizarrely a rarity in Mexican restaurants.

Had Al Pastor, Birria, guac, queso. Everything was very good. The Al Pastor and guac especially were A+ 10/10.“

“Excellent homemade & authentic Mexican food. We stopped by around 2:45pm, and the food was amazing. Mixed meat tacos on corn tortillas, and sopes. The side sauces that came with the meal were superb. Perfectly sweetened horchata as well. On our way out, we grabbed one of the pastries —- pan de leche (?)— reminded of an egg custard meets pound cake meets cheesecake. We will come back again soon.“

I like that they mix it, that definitely is different than Chipotle. I will say one of the burritos was much smaller than the other. “I really like this place. I can walk there without any sweat. The food is nice, and the staff are happy to help. There are kiosks, and there's even some outdoor seating. The service is also pretty quick. I think I wait about 3 minutes on a good day and 10 minutes on a bad day.“
