I visited Benihana Plymouth Meeting on 12/13/25 for my daughter’s 13th birthday dinner. The waitress added a $40 tip for herself on my credit card even though she was already properly tipped in cash. I’ve reported the situation and called the store for help multiple times only to be given the run around. This is unacceptable, especially around the holidays. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation. They had no clean glasses to get our drinks, so another 20 minutes gone there. 3 hours after our reservation time we were finally leaving. When asked if this was a typical visit, the manager stated that corporate causes them to overbook reservations since some won’t show up. Unless you have 3 hours of your life you never want back, stay far away!
Had a 7:15 reservation. No one at the door, we waited until a host finally showed up. Seated at 8 pm. Drink orders were slow to arrive. We watched half of the table next to us, pay for their drinks and leave. The food was fine, the cook was fine. Service from the door to our table was poor. I'd understand if the place was packed, but there were empty tables everywhere. So no, I would not recommend this location. We drove an hour to give Benihana's a chance .... what a disappointment.

Based on the reviews, Benihana offers a great date night with engaging food preparation, high quality ingredients, and good portion sizes. The new management at one location has created an ambience of FOOD, FAMILY, & FUN, with a very pleasant attitude and attention to detail. However, some reviews mention the food quality was a little disappointing, and the hibachi veggies mostly consisted of onions with some zucchini. Despite this, many guests expressed gratitude for the great service and said they would be back. The mustard and ginger sauces are available for purchase. Note that there is no Lunch Menu on Sunday at one location.
