“Great food. Best at Specialty rolls rather than classics tho. Chipped dishware is way too common though. that exposed ceramic can cause silica contamination and speed up damage to the dishes or cause mold growth. Can also be kinda loud. But good service and food.“

“I went for a dinner. I was impressed with authentic Japanese taste offered here. Portion size is very satisfying. Good sushi, ramen noodles were authentic. Pork slices on top were delicious. I ordered takeouts of guidon and curry. I'd come back there when I am in the area next time. It seems majority of people are ordering pickups. Many customers came to pick up their orders. The dining space is nicely prepared and the room ready for anyone to come and dine.“

“I have been going to SU20 for almost two years now (usually 2-3 times per month, sometimes more) and it is definitely the BEST, and almost even more importantly, most CONSISTENT sushi I have ever had in my life. This establishment and everyone who works there is an absolute gem for the Blue Bell and Ambler area. I personally believe that SU20’s sushi is better than the high end sushi restaurants in the Philly downtown area (at least based on the ones I have visited) — including some that were under review and successfully recognized for the Michelin Guide in November 2025. I’m not saying that out of disrespect, but simply to acknowledge how much of a hidden gem I believe SU20 truly is.

The fish quality, consistency, and knife work is stellar across the board — I have had almost every single specialty roll on the menu and they are all incredible. Some favorites include: the Fiesta, Blue Bell, Empire, and Sunshine Rolls — freshest ingredients every time, without exception. The quality control really shines through with the sashimi! It’s unbelievable how full and satisfied, yet light, I still feel after each meal I have at SU20. The appetizers and other meal items are great too… I would recommend the Tuna Carpaccio and Tuna Tataki if you’re looking for small plates.

It is worth noting that the “SU20 Roll” has become my absolute favorite item I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It is a fried roll that tiptoes across a fine line of decadence, freshness, creativity, and nuance. My wife and I get the SU20 roll to end each meal because it’s just that satisfying— you NEED it to try it. This will sound like an exaggeration…. but if I had to pick my last my bite of food on this Earth, the SU20 Roll would likely earn that order.

To round out the entire experience, SU20 even has a variety of delicious Japanese desserts that I believe are also made in house. The crepe cakes and cheesecakes both display a master class on maximizing pastry texture and flavor in a lighthearted way — my personal favorite is the Strawberry Crepe Cake. If I have room after dinner, I love taking one to go!

“Beautiful decor, very cozy and ambient. Our server was very nice and helpful, as my daughter and I have never been there. Chef Tony made us delicious sushi rolls and plated the sashimi beautifully. We had dessert, they have a variety of mochi and I had the tempura ice cream.. omgoodness it was so delicious! “My family and I had an incredible dining experience tonight at Umai. We had a special, Kinmedai aka Golden Eye Snapper that was so fresh and tasty, out of this world good! We also had a treat with broiled tuna cheek that was also outstanding. Otoro was so velvety and rich, spicy hotate, sweet ebi, unagi, fried crabs, incredible sushi rolls, savory Akadashi (my son ordered a second it was so good) and everything else we ordered tonight was just incredible. What really sets it apart are the thoughtful little touches—delicate dabs of caviar and other unexpected accents that enhance and elevate each piece without overpowering the fish.

My friend and I started with the oysters and tuna tasting platter. The oysters were exquisite, and the tuna was, as always, exceptional. We followed with the sushi and sashimi combination, adding salmon, king salmon, and chutoro and Otoro. Heavenly doesn’t even begin to describe it. Every bite was beautifully balanced and absolutely delicious.

The cocktails are equally well crafted, and we ended the meal with sorbet—lemon for my friend and coconut for me. The perfect, refreshing finish to an outstanding meal.

“Although it’s named “to-go” there are actually 2 tables inside for dine in with 4 chairs each. I got the lunch special and they brought my food out and gave me iced water with it! The sushi was fresh and delicious. The man who brought my food out even turned the fan on and put it in my direction. They are all super friendly!
