“We stopped to have a coffee at breakfast time, we were happy. They have an indoor area and also some tables on the outdoor terrace, next to the door. Correct prices. Despite being two blocks from the central square of Évora, it was full of local people, which always speaks well of a place.“

“We stopped for dinner on Sunday evening, the food was truly delicious and the place was very nice and clean. It is a place where typical dishes and products from the area are served. The portions are very generous. The menu is available in English, French and Spanish, as well as Portuguese of course. The typical dishes of the day are only listed on the Portuguese menu so I recommend you take a look at it and ask the waiters for information, the staff is very kind and helpful, they speak English and understand Italian. It was a truly pleasant experience and we recommend it.“

“We were enormously impressed by the food - wonderfully cooked pasta with delicious and imaginative toppings, beautifully cooked meat of great quality, and an amazing selection of dolce one of which - the Lava Cake - was outstanding. The chef is Portuguese, the waiters very personable, the decor beautiful, and the setting by the sea perfect. 11/10 if this was possible.“

“An incredible restaurant, with service that makes us feel at home. The dishes are very well served, with a typical Alentejo quality. The desserts are varied, but we highlight the soaked and the golden soup, which perfectly concluded our lunch! We couldn't recommend it more.“
“I read about this place before our trip, but due to its high stellar reviews, I was doubtful we would be able to get in. One evening we planned on eating at nearby restaurant but found out they were closed for renovations. We walked past Taberna dos Mercadores and realized there was only one group in line, so we decided to wait. Our wait was about 30 minutes until we were seated inside. As others have mentioned this place is small, maybe 10-15 tables. The service was great, the whole place being ran by 2 waiters, 1 chef and 1 kitchen assistant. It was like a well-oiled machine, I really enjoyed watching the chef cook. We had the garlic shrimp as an appetizer and then I had the octopus rice and my boyfriend had the ribs with sausage rice. It was A LOT of food, and I felt bad not being able to finish it all, but the food was spectacular. The best meal I had in Portugal and even one of the best meals I have had in my life. By the time we left, the line was quite long. So, if you want to try to get in, come early, and come hungry,“

“We happened across Boca do Mar while exploring São Martinho do Porto and it was a good experience overall. The restaurant was quite barren due to bad weather, but the service and food did not lack. We shared two dishes for lunch: the first was a tamboril (monkfish) and shrimp skewer, and the second an octopus salad. The skewer was packed with seafood, peppers & onions, and served with a generous side of potatoes, carrots, beans, broccoli and cauliflower. The octopus salad was both flavorful and plentiful and, although an appetizer, more than enough for a full meal! The service was attentive and kind. We would return again the next time we are in the area.“
