“Wonderful product, attention and the place has charm.
Interesting and extensive letter.
We are vegetarians and there are many options for breakfast.
100% recommended
(Go early or make a reservation, because it's super expensive)
Vegetarian options: Highly recommended, many options.“

“As others have said, all the vegetarian dishes can easily be vegan and many already are. Several options available. Veggie goyozas were very tasty as was my red curry. They even have several vegan (and interesting!) deserts! Friendly and very helpful service from staff who understand veganism. I recommend!“

“ A really nice space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The vegan croquettes and green beans tempura are really good as appetizers. There are three entrées: definitely a vegan lasagna, which is excellent ( but very rich) and vegan gnocchi and I believe they also have a vegetable curry. They have a vegan Pannacotta for dessert which I found OK.“

“I’ve been vegan for 9 years and told the amazing team at Therapist that the chef made my day with the vegan burrata salad. It was packed with flavor and I was in heaven. The pesto, the pear, the creamy burrata, the tomatoes in combination with the toasted bread were nothing short of amazing! I wish I could give it 5 stars - because it deserves it! But happy cow won’t let me, as it’s not fully vegan (weird).“

“We paid 12€ for all you can eat buffet. (Drinks & desserts not included). It was our third time visiting Lisbon and every time we came here. You can repeat as much as you like in one sitting. Amazing! Great flavor and lots options. The soup of the day never fails. They should be top rated!“

“I had a really delicious lentil burger which came with rice and salad. It was fresh, healthy and also filling. The restaurant has a very calm atmosphere and feels high class but the food isn’t expensive at all. The waiter was very friendly and made me feel welcome. I was able to relax and enjoy my meal without feeling rushed. If I had more time in Lisbon I’d go back!“

“We ate here for dinner and it was one of the best meals of our trip. Arriving when the restaurant opened, they were not quite prepared for us inside, so we sat on the steps until we could be seated. We started with a carafe of fresh red sangria and the Appetizer Set. Because they had no DIP, we were allowed to double up on the Caprese and that was by far the best thing in the set. If possible, I would recommend ordering nothing but the Caprese! it's THAT good! After the appetizer, we proceeded with the tasting menu. It was a lot of food and it was great to be able to try a lot of things on the regular menu, but in smaller portions. Some were winners and some we could have skipped, but we were able to try them, regardless. It was also fascinating to watch the kitchen in action. For being such a small space and with so many diners (the place got packed), the chefs did an excellent job keeping up with service. I would highly recommend a visit and if nothing else, ORDER THE CAPRESE!!!“

“Lovely atmosphere in this restaurant plus it’s just a few minutes walk from the miradouro de Santa luzia. The waiter serving me was really lovely, and he was patient while taking my order. Quality food, local restaurant, great vibes, perfect price, not much more I can say for this restaurant.“

“The pictures don't show how tasty this is! Would definitely recommend getting one of the dishes. The starters are a bit dry so don't take too many of them to not get too full. Assado de legumes is incredible. Staff speaks english!“

“I had the vegan Brunch and it was very delicious. The „scrambled eggs“ were incredible and the portion was quite large. The waiter asked if I was vegan and told me that they didn’t only have the vegan brunch and the açai bowl as vegan options but could also modify some other dishes to make them vegan. The service was great even tho it was extremely busy.“

“Our first stop on recommendation. A hit! Great atmosphere, wonderful, friendly service and a real feast for the palate. Waffles with cinnamon and caramel could use some fruit to break the sweet taste, but the pancake is a revelation without compromise and in tandem with a smoothie it is an unforgettable visual and taste experience! we will definitely visit this place again. I highly recommend...“

“Nice area, very nice prices. I had the cheesy vegan burger, which was alright, but difficult to eat as the bun was covered in cheese. The cheese also wasn’t particularly great (I’ve had better vegan cheese in burgers). The fries were a bit too fried and hard My partner had the Feijoada (traditional Portuguese bean stew) which was very good!“

“I've been here a couple of times, and every time I go to Lisboa travelling via Oriente station, I try to make a beeline for it. Fabulous food, wonderful , person attention, a real family business. And if you have never tried chilled blackberry juice (sumo de amoras) with berries floating in it on a very hot summer's day...baby, you haven't lived!!“

“I'm not a big fan of ice cream but once in the summer in a very hot day I make an exception and get some ice cream and this place was unbelievably good! You pay a fixed price (my total was €4,10 including the vegan cone, YES they offer vegan cones), and they said I could choose as many flavors as I wanted and the price would remain THE SAME, which I thought it was NUTS but apparently true. I had dark chocolate with strawberries and another fruit (yeah very basic) and I really enjoyed it! There are many vegan options, vegan cones and vegan toppins, so please go there and treat yourself :)“

“Can order on an app which has pictures so you can see what to expect. We had the vegan sharer which gave a bit of everything, my favourite was the tomato bruschetta! There were also some sandwich options. The staff were really friendly and it was a handy spot to stop as it's right next to the flea market (if wanting to go to the flea market check the days it's open as it's not every day). “Friendly staff and very quick service. Menu in Portuguese and English. Serve a variety of breakfast and lunch items, such as wraps, toast, pancakes etc as well as hot and cold drinks. Food is fresh and healthy. Everything is vegetarian and most items are also vegan. (There is no fish on the menu contrary to previous reviews). I’ve eaten here twice and had a great experience both times. Updated from previous review on 2025-11-16“

“Looking for a Fado evening, we were pointed to this place by a nearby restaurant. What an evening it was! If you want to experience real hospitality, touching performance and delightful local food, look no further, go straight to the room upstairs where the show is. Our fadista was Claudia Leal, a beautiful singer, and a young man (don't remember his name now) with equally passionate and expressive voice. Accompanied by two guitarists, they entertained the audience the whole evening, inviting to sing and clap together. Did not know that Fado can be so cheerful. The food and wine was very good and the service was excellent - special greetings to our lovely host Rusha.“

“A super nice small place with a few tables on the hill. Definitely our favourite place for a drink or a small bite in Alfama. Service is always friendly, professional, and quick. Tuna-chickpea salad and the portuguese bruschettas are super nice. An extra plus for being able to listen to the Fado music from the next door restaurant. and a plus plus for happy hour (17-19) sangria :D
Vegetarian options: Many different cheese (goat cheese, azores cheese etc) options on salads and sandwiches. Limited on vegan options. If you eat fish there's loads to choose from.“

“They have couple of vegan options for brunch. The atmoshpere of the place is nice with a nice decor and chill music. It can be quite crowded (sometime there is a line to wait to get a table). The portions are quite big, and also tasty. I have tried the vegan shakshuka, it was made by sweetened tomatoes, which I personally prefer to use it as fresh as they are.“

“Lovely little restaurant, polite staff, atmospheric decoration. Frozen goblets for cold drinks and flame heated metal plates were two of the special preparations before food arrived. The food was fresh, flavoursome and top quality. I’d definitely go again. Highly recommended.“

“Without a doubt one of the best places I've been to in Lisbon.
I ate:
1.Veal chamussa - extremely shocking and tasty.
2. Fried cassava - very tasty and with sauces.
3. Shrimp with okra in coconut milk and palm sauce - very good, slightly acidic.
4. Rice - basmatti with fresh grated coconut and very fragrant.
Without a doubt I recommend this place. I will come back whenever I can. The customer service was very good, polite, good-natured, quick and pleasant. The terrace has a relaxed, well-attended atmosphere.“

“On a recent evening in Lisbon, my friend and I decided to change our plans spontaneously and try Sumaya Restaurant, a decision that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
From the moment we entered, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor, which blends traditional Mediterranean elements with modern design, immediately caught our eye and created a comfortable and elegant setting. The staff greeted us with genuine friendliness, making us feel like special guests.
Sumaya is renowned as one of the best Arab restaurants in Lisbon, and it truly lives up to its reputation. The food is expertly crafted to suit Portuguese audience while retaining rich, authentic flavors from the Levant. We sampled a variety of dishes, including sausage, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, falafel, and beef shawarma. Each dish was delicious and full of fresh, vibrant flavors. The beef kofta, our main course, was tender and perfectly seasoned, showcasing the chef's skill.
The restaurant was established by passionate entrepreneurs who aimed to bring the warm flavors of Arab hospitality to Lisbon. Their dedication to quality and authenticity is evident in every dish they serve, and their commitment to exceptional hospitality makes each visit memorable. They also offer halal options, ensuring everyone can enjoy their meals without concern.
I highly recommend Sumaya Restaurant for its outstanding food, high standards of cleanliness, and quality. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic Arab cuisine in Lisbon, and I especially recommend it to my fellow Khaleeji travelers.“

“It's an experience. It took about 3 hrs for the four course chefs menu with 3 small appetizers and one pre dessert on top of the 4 courses. The view of the river while dining is excellent. It has the feeling of. Private club and the presentation is world class.“
