“Very nice and funny people! The right address, away from the overpriced chic scene on the waterfront, for Portuguese hospitality. The same applies to the Forno da Centieira a few meters further. It's not without reason that we were guests in both restaurants several times and look forward to seeing you again!!“

“Today we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and bruschetta at O Casco, and both dishes tasted excellent! The staff was very friendly. After we answered in Portuguese, the waitress asked if she should answer in English or Portuguese. We mentioned that we were learning Portuguese, so she calmly spoke Portuguese to us, which made our experience very enjoyable. A great place for an authentic and welcoming experience!Today at O Casco, we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and bruschetta, both tasting excellent! The staff were very friendly. After we responded in Portuguese, the waitress asked if she should continue in English or Portuguese. We mentioned we were learning Portuguese, so she kindly spoke Portuguese with us, enhancing our dining experience tremendously. A fantastic spot for an authentic and welcoming experience!“

“Stopped here to grab some breakfast and a coffee. We had ham and cheese, chicken sandwich, sausage roll and fresh orange juice. The orange juice is amazing…you can’t ask for better. Americano was also pretty great. Lovely atmosphere as well.“

“One of the few places that prepares "express" poncha as tradition dictates. The owners were very kind and, in addition to making us drink, they also prepared an excellent dish of strips of meat and thick potatoes. Absolutely recommended, can't wait to go back!“

“The poncha (regional, passion fruit or fisherman's) is excellent, highlighting the fact that it is made fresh and accompanied by delicious "dentinhos" (chicken wings, pork legs, among others). Attentive and friendly service! Totally recommendable!“

“The several times I've eaten at the restaurant, the food has always been good and tasty, the prices are reasonable and the view over the airport runway is excellent for watching the planes take off. Even if it's not for lunch or dinner, it's a very pleasant space with or alone, even if it's just to have a good coffee.“

“Portela À Vista Restaurant is fantastic and very easy to find. I have never been to a more beautiful restaurant with such a fantastic view of nature.
On Saturdays, we knew in advance that there would be a lot of people waiting for a table, so we called the day before to make a reservation. When we arrived at Portela Restaurant, we only had to wait for a few minutes.
We asked the waitress for the traditional food, espetada with French fries, and the food was excellent. The prices for food and drinks were very reasonable considering the quality offered.
However, we were not pleased with the service. The waitress was occasionally inconvenient and often seemed upset about things that customers shouldn’t need to be concerned with.“

“We had dinner on the terrace (the food gets cold quickly). We ordered a bolo do caco (typical Po an with garlic and parsley) and for mains a secret with very good flavor, and also an espetada de limbo (not the best I've ever had, but it was good). They do not come with garnish or potatoes. The staff is nice and it is next to the beach. We came out to about €35 in total.“
“If you are in the area, it is worth having your lunch on this terrace. Unique place, with not only a view of part of the beautiful golf course, but in clear weather you can also see the Desertas, Sao Lorenzo, and Porto Santo in one view. Excellent menu and food, friendly prices. The kitchen closed at 4:00 PM.“

Unbeatable quality-price ratio.

“Very good address in Machico close to the city center. Pub restaurant which serves traditional dishes and other grilled meats but also burgers and pieces of fish. Garlic shrimp are a treat to complement with bread. The tuna steak is very large (ask for the cooking method that suits you best). Very friendly service.“

“Very tasty food and very well presented dishes. Attentive and friendly staff but there were few employees to cope with the volume of work, the restaurant was full. The employee said that they were closed for a period and now they have gradually opened the restaurant during the festive season. We paid €30 per person (drink, dish, dessert and coffee).“
“1. The meals are simple, yet beautifully prepared and presented. 2. The food is of the highest standard (we had the espetada, cooked over an open wood fire). 3. The service is extremely friendly – they make you feel a welcome guest 4. The ‘jar’ of the local red wine was quite something 5. The homemade mousse was delicious (but difficult to keep to just 1 portion!) We wished we had been staying in Santo da Serra another day so that we could come back again.“
“When travelling in different parts of the world I try to visit places that have been suggested beforehand or places where there are a lot of local people. This bar was from the latter category. Upon entering it was full of local men having loud discussions. Here I ate the most surprising sandwich with dried tuna marinated in olive oil, onion and vinegar. I thought that the taste of tuna could not surprise me anymore, but it did. Eating only local Maderian dishes this sandwich is in the first place“

“Not a bad place to run in and grab something. The food is tasty, prepared quickly. Not much space at the small tables. There is always a queue of optimists who buy lottery tickets and check them. A small selection of desserts.
Vegetarian options: You order pizza or pasta, and you yourself choose the ingredients that will make up your meal.
Parking: Plenty of street parking. There are always free places
Kid-friendliness: You can order a special children's pizza“

“Very good restaurant on the main square in a typical and very pretty setting. The terrace is arranged around a fountain and surrounded by a low wall. The grilled entrances give a retro feel. At the table it's well done and tasty. The grilled salmon is to die for. Friendly and fairly quick service.“

“What an unexpected charming restaurant. We came across this charming restaurant while looking for something that had a better offer for vegetarians . Great value, food was lovely, great vegetarian and vegan choices along with offers for meat and fish lovers. Beware the portions are big so one vegetable plate would have been enough for two. Lovely staff , nice exposed stone features.“
“Good Portuguese food and restaurant/ Take-away and specially good for foreign tourists, because you can see the food in the take-away counter kitchen, before you order ! Sometimes it can be difficult to order from a menu cart if you are not familiar with Portuguese food ! Great place ! Try it !“

“We had an excellent seafood risotto, pepper steak and pesto pasta.
The service is far from good. Several times, waiters came to us with dishes that were not intended for us. At one point it became hilarious...
Fortunately, the quality of the food quickly made us forget these mishaps.“
