“Today we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and bruschetta at O Casco, and both dishes tasted excellent! The staff was very friendly. After we answered in Portuguese, the waitress asked if she should answer in English or Portuguese. We mentioned that we were learning Portuguese, so she calmly spoke Portuguese to us, which made our experience very enjoyable. A great place for an authentic and welcoming experience!Today at O Casco, we enjoyed a delicious soup of the day and bruschetta, both tasting excellent! The staff were very friendly. After we responded in Portuguese, the waitress asked if she should continue in English or Portuguese. We mentioned we were learning Portuguese, so she kindly spoke Portuguese with us, enhancing our dining experience tremendously. A fantastic spot for an authentic and welcoming experience!“

“It had been a while since I ate at Cabrestante, even though it was in the same location as the restaurant, and I can say that I was not disappointed. The service was quick and efficient, the food was very tasty, the atmosphere and decoration were well presented.
The restaurant still has its usual charm! A good 5 stars very well deserved! ?“

“Very good restaurant on the main square in a typical and very pretty setting. The terrace is arranged around a fountain and surrounded by a low wall. The grilled entrances give a retro feel. At the table it's well done and tasty. The grilled salmon is to die for. Friendly and fairly quick service.“

“Small cozy place that serves italian food. It doesn't have any clearly vegan main dishes on the menu, but we asked if the vegetarian pizza could be made vegan by taking out the cheese. The pizza was served with a balsamic vinegar on top instead of the cheese, and it was amazing.“

“Very nice upscale restaurant in Funchal. Mostly non-vegan BUT two vegan/vegetarian options for starters and two main courses plus a deliciously presented vegan brownie. Excellent service. Very reasonably priced (dare I say cheap) for what you get. Highly recommended.“

“I remember it being a good restaurant, with good service and, above all, good distance between tables. However, I no longer remember the dishes we ate or how much we paid. The food was good, as meals in Funchal are generally good for a restaurant of this level, and the price was higher, as prices are generally higher in restaurants of this level in Funchal.“

“The restaurant has got wraps, a burger, falafels, salat, homemade fries, a soup/dish of the day and some desserts. The menu includes coffee, some cold drinks and cocktails. Some dishes and drinks are typical madeiran. It’s placed inside the shopping center. The staff is very friendly. :) We really enjoyed it! Updated from previous review on 2026-04-16“

“A small restaurant in Funchal, with quality. The boss has 2 more? Restaurants the Kampo and the Theos, I think. The kitchen is open with a counter where you can also eat as an individual. The dishes were imaginative and delicious. Even things that you might not like are prepared in such a way that they taste good. The main course grouper with seafood rice was AMAZING. Super delicious and we continued to eat even though we were full for a long time because the taste was really good... Thank you that there are still restaurants that cook fresh and good food in high season... It's a bit small but still great.
Great service and child friendly... THANK YOU

“Restaurante Informal serves some of the most tasty and delicious food I've come across in Funchal, and the charming and cozy atmosphere just adds to the experience. We've gone through most of their menu during our stay on Madeira in February, and along with some amazing hiking experiences, the food from Informal is still being brought up as one of the highlights of our visit!“

“Without exaggeration, one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and our favorite meal in Madeira. We got the beef brisket and pork shank, which were excellent! The meats are all marinated and smoked on-site and the flavors are truly delicious. To drink we just had the fresh squeezed lemonade which was wonderful. For dessert we had the passion fruit crème brûlée which was incredible. Wonderful and super friendly service! If you have the chance, definitely make it a point to try this place!“

“Address not to be missed in Porto Da Cruz:
We had the pleasure of discovering this restaurant which doesn't look much from the outside but which turns out to be a gem well known to the locals for its simple, homemade and fresh cuisine. Greeted by Suzanna with a great smile, in French, she brought us on a large platter 4 superb fresh whole fish from which to choose the one we were going to taste. Deliciously grilled, soft, we feasted on a superb sea bream, a hearty and tasty plate. So, either we don't have a sea view, the style is more tavern, with paneling but we delight our taste buds for a more than fair price, proof that the address is good, the queue, we don't don't reserve!! We had a great bowl, a free table straight away!! Local atmosphere, a little noisy but lively. All the staff are super efficient in serving and satisfying every guest. Congratulations to everyone, ...and kisses to Suzanna!
Kid-friendliness: Yes, it has high chairs for children and the waiters are attentive to them.“

* sardine, eggplant and passion fruit (juicy)
* Oxtail ravioli with foie mouse and truffle (pure delight
* escalope of foie, banana and passion fruit
To top off dessert:
* White chocolate, olive and passion fruit (unforgettable)
The waiter's service was of another level, attentive, cordial, friendly, he made us feel very comfortable after explaining each dish in detail.
? RECOMMENDED
Try it, you won't be disappointed.
We arrived late, they only serve a menu until 3pm but with the starters and dessert we managed very well.
We will return

“All very good and with an exquisite presentation, I recommend it.
We went there for dinner and we ordered stone-fried salmon, ricotta ravioli, tuna and an apple dessert. The stone-baked salmon also came with potatoes and a side salad. Both the quality and presentation of the dishes was very very good, everything was delicious. It may seem a bit expensive at first, but from my point of view the quality is worth it. In addition, they treated us to liquor both before and after dinner.
As for the service, also 10. They served us quickly and were very kind and friendly.“

“"Taberna do petisco" is a culinary gem that merits the attention of every discerning gourmet. From the very first bite, it is evident that the dishes are crafted with meticulous care and passion. The house specialties are nothing short of extraordinary—each offering is a harmonious blend of flavors, transforming every meal into a memorable experience.
The service at "Taberna do petisco" is exemplary. The staff is not only courteous but also remarkably attentive, remembering their patrons and adding a personal touch that enhances the dining experience. Notably, despite the absence of a tip on the first day, we were met with the same warmth and attentiveness on our return, a testament to their unwavering commitment to hospitality.
While the staff's proficiency in English may be limited, communication and ordering pose no difficulty. It is clear that at "Taberna do petisco," the universal language of exquisite cuisine is spoken fluently, with taste as the primary medium of expression.
A particularly commendable aspect of this establishment is the exceptional price-to-quality ratio. The prices are moderate, yet the quality of the food far surpasses what one might expect, offering superb value for money. The dishes are sure to impress even the most exacting of palates.
In conclusion, "Taberna do petisco" is a place I unreservedly recommend. Its unforgettable flavors, impeccable service, and inviting atmosphere make it a destination to which I will undoubtedly return.“

“Outstanding! Our favourite place in Madeira by a mile. The service was impeccable. Standout dishes were the starter of goat cheese pastry with pumpkin chutney. And the two mains we had of grouper with lime and seaweed risotto and fish filet with coriander squashed bread. An excellent, modern and fresh twist on traditional cuisine - thank you!
Only drawback was how hot it was inside given it’s an open kitchen - would have appreciated some aircon“

“Half of the options on the vegetarian a la carte menu can be made vegan. None of the desserts can be made vegan however they kindly whipped us up a chocolate mousse with red fruits, it was delicious. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food is on the pricey side and has an upmarket feel. Beautiful view out to sea.“

“A charming little restaurant seating 20 with a cozy bistro atmosphere. A beautiful place for a romantic moment!
The dishes are of finesse and perfect mastery of flavors. For example, I want the piri piri octopus which is soft in the mouth and just seasoned just right.
The meat is perfectly cooked and the accompaniments are top notch.
I highly recommend it!“

“What an experience!
We enjoyed it immensely. There was a lovely woman who sang all evening. The food was of top quality and the price was cheap compared to Dutch standards.
€61.95 for a 3 course menu with prosecco and 3 different wines, they also poured each time the glass was empty.“

“Living in the Hotel Panoramico, we were looking for good, authentic local cuisine beyond the tourist mainstream. A few streets further on, we found what we were looking for in the Restaurante Casa da Sogra, which was not only within walking distance, but also very positive in every respect: owner-run family restaurant (the owner's parents are the chefs) with an unusually nice approach both from the senior personally and from the service (the owner's daughter actively works there). We were so impressed that we ate there again two days later and left the restaurant in a high mood. Excellent food without the chichi, great wine, wonderful dessert, excellent value for money! Thank you for the successful evenings, we'll be happy to come back!“

“We were looking for a place with a reasonable offering for meat eaters and vegetarians. Through our research we specifically looked for this shop, which - because it was on the 1st floor and had no tables on the street - was easy to miss. A relatively small operation with exceptionally good food. Small problem: we had three young ladies between 12 and 18 with us, and the description of the dishes ("sophisticated cuisine") was a bit confusing. There's no place to order a meat skewer with a mountain of fries, but in the end everyone found a dish and none of them disappointed, in fact most of them were excellent. In the end, everyone had an excellent quality starter, main course and dessert, and at a more than fair price. A clear recommendation if you want to skip the standard dishes.“

“Restaurant Goya is something new and modern for the city of Pazardzhik. I was definitely impressed. I was there recently at Sushi Night - on 07/20/2024. The main menu is also not to be missed... they cook very tasty there. The service was at a very high level. The music also helped to create a unique atmosphere. Well done and see you soon!“

“Prepare yourself for the unfortunately usual poor acoustics of the place. But the friendliness of the staff, the food and the wine offer overcome this inconvenience. We start with an alheira, samosa and a suckling pig patty, we move on to the regional chopped, the only drawback of which is the already chronic lack of flavor and texture of the potatoes that currently proliferate in the supply circuits. Despite being homemade, it was soft and without much flavor. The wine choice fell on a Medusa Red from 2022, which deserves a score of 9 out of 10.

“We booked through The Fork and we were honestly surprised. The treatment was unbeatable, attentive service that takes care of the customer. We had a 30% discount for the application, however it did not apply to the specialty. Despite this, we ordered it and it was delicious, both the point of the meat and its juiciness. “We got a place for six people without a reservation. Unfortunately, the high chair that we would have needed for our baby was reserved for another family all evening, but they didn't use it from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. For this reason there are only four stars and a deduction for service, even though David was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was a little disturbed when the boss reprimanded the staff and we had our table right next door. The food was excellent and the price/performance ratio was right. We'd love to come back and reserve the high chair next time ?“

“We ate tasty and aromatic dishes, Espada with banana and sweet potatoes was delicate. The same fish, i.e. scabbardfish, in the Asian version was served with rice, accompanied by blanched broccoli florets and sorrel, typical of Madeira cuisine. The dish was slightly sour, the lemon marinated in spices added this flavor. Really well composed at a reasonable price! The children ate the wok dishes (pasta, chicken and vegetables) with gusto. The wok was slightly over salted but forgivable :-)“

“Delicious food for good price. Nice waiter, we found out that he doesn’t like coral beer :D he jokes that they make if from river water because the brewery is near the river. In the restaurant have portuguese beer which is fuller and bitter than coral. It depends on everyone’s tastes but we liked it very much. Madeiran Espada with banana and passion fruit was especially delicious.
P.S. for the waiter: You should try Czech beer I think you would like it.“
