“Recomendo a viola vivamente, sou Madeirense e vivo a alguns anos no estrangeiro. Quando vou à Madeira sempre um visito o viola. É um locar muito frequentado e por vezes temos de esperar por uma mesa mas vale a pena.
A comida é saborosa.

“Our lunch at the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant was a real highlight of our stay in São Vicente. We tried the grilled mussels and the fish of the day (sea bass) and were amazed by the quality and taste of the food. The mussels were grilled to perfection and the sea bass was fresh and superbly prepared.
The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. Despite the high quality of the dishes, the prices are more than fair, making this restaurant a must for anyone in São Vicente. The service is also particularly noteworthy: the service was extremely nice and made us feel very welcome.
Overall, we can only warmly recommend the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant. If you are in São Vicente, you definitely shouldn't miss this culinary experience!“

“Good traditional place to eat. We tried the regional espetada with cooked potato and the bolo du caco, to share. Everything is very good.
The espetada comes with 6 good-sized pieces. And the serving of potatoes seen in the photo is the medium size. Strong quality/price portions.
Additionally, the restaurant has beautiful views.
Parking: There is space for 6-7 cars. We went during the week and parked without a problem.“

“An Unforgettable Dining Experience
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Real Canoa, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The food was nothing short of fantastic—each dish was well-prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour.
The staff at Real Canoa truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Their friendliness and attentiveness added a personal touch to the evening, making me feel right at home. They made my birthday celebration particularly special by bringing out a cake and playing "Happy Birthday," creating a memorable moment that I will cherish.
The ambience of the restaurant is another highlight. The elegant decor, coupled with the soothing live music playing in the background, created a perfect setting for a delightful dining experience. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy great food, and soak in the wonderful atmosphere.
Moreover, the food is not only delicious but also offers great value for money. It's rare to find a place that excels in both quality and affordability, but Real Canoa manages to do just that. Whether you're looking for a special night out or just a great meal, this restaurant is a fantastic choice.
I would definitely recommend Real Canoa to anyone in the area. It's an amazing experience that you won't want to miss!“

“A very cozy restaurant. With a very simple, beachy decoration, with direct views of the sea, it has a terrace on the shore of the beach. The waiter very attentive and friendly. A simple and picturesque place, if you pass by don't hesitate to come in, we stopped to snack, we enjoyed some grilled limpets, fried squid, coconut bolo bread, some of us tried to drink Poncha, others Nikita and of course the Coral beer, all very delicious, ideal to enjoy the direct view of the sea." Highly recommended.“

“Simply the best food we ate in Madeira
(espada do chef and espada madeirense).
Apart from the amazing cuisine, the portions were very generous, and the prices very good, making for an optimal value-for-money relationship.
Wonderful service on a non-smoking balcony with distant sea view.
If we had discovered it earlier in our vacation, I think we would have eaten there every day.
Parking: Parking is free, 4-5 cars fit in the parking lot, the rest parked on the side of the road.“

“Truly a delight!
It's a shame that the lady welcomed us in an unpleasant way... but it was another person who took care of us afterwards.
I recommend the “grill” that you see the kind of shrimp there.. Rahhhh it was really good!
BE CAREFUL if like us you are Belgian, I do not recommend fries
If you're not Belgian then the taste of the fries shouldn't bother you too much ?
Bon appetit and happy holidays :)“

“It is a striking restaurant, due to its shape and location.
Located in São Vicente Bay, it is a restaurant with different types of appetizers, seafood dishes, meat or quick things to snack on like prego sandwiches or hot dogs.
The prices are a little high, but due to being characteristic of the area and being a highly touristy area, it is to be expected.
Parking: Few parking spaces available nearby.“

“We got there by accident while driving to the nuns' valley. It is a place visited mainly by the local community with local decor and atmosphere (I personally love and appreciate such places). The food is very tasty, fries cut from fresh potatoes (the large portion of fries is huge), delicious meat, wonderful vegetables. Local service with very basic English but I highly recommend it.“

“During our vacation we spent two evenings at Calheta Green. The restaurant is beautifully located - with a view of the sea and quiet, green surroundings. The food was very fresh and tasty. The grill is visible to all guests. The restaurant also offers a bar.
We were particularly impressed by the service of our waiter Igor. We could always trust his recommendations regarding food and drinks. His very friendly and, above all, attentive way of working stands out clearly from other locations on Madeira. After our first visit, his service persuaded us to spend our last evening in Madeira in this restaurant.
Vegetarian options: Fresh, tasty and unusual.
Recommended to other vegetarians.
Parking: Approximately 15 parking spaces available
Wheelchair accessibility: You can park directly in front of the entrance. Access to the restaurant (including the terrace) is level.“

“Due to its proximity to the hotel, we reserved a table here and were not disappointed, on the contrary.
Be sure to reserve in advance as the restaurant doesn't have that many seats.
The service was very committed and always attentive.
The dishes were very good, espetada and herb-crusted salmon.
Only the Bolo do Caco was “different” from what we knew.
You had to spread the bread with garlic/herb butter yourself, but that was completely okay. This means the guests can decide for themselves how much garlic/herb butter they would like to have on it.
The restaurant is worth recommending if you are in the west of Funchal near the Forum Madeira.“

“A must stop. They don't speak English, if you ask for an English menu they shake their heads. In a few words, they will tell you what, of course, has nothing to do with what you think. Here you really arrive in Madeira. You can eat well for cheap. It is not a place reserved for tourists. But Google is your friend, you can figure out what's going on and they don't care about you. ? Then you'll get something to eat. But you get the feeling of going to a local on Sunday. Don't ask for a cheese sandwich, because cold Gepsonka cold cheese is cold Madeira bread. But they bring it out in 1 minute.“

“Excellent restaurant, the best food we ate in Funchal!!! To our surprise, it was not the beer that was important, but the excellent food: be sure to try Picado (we ate beef and octopus). Great service and atmosphere! And finally, brandy shots, which is not standard in Funchal! I recommend it 100%“

“Parking space is scarce... great view. Sitting outside under sun protection is great. Portions are large and so it is enough for two adults to order just one espetada.

“Eating at this place, on a cliff above the Atlantic Ocean, local traditional food (beef pieces on a skewer), which you have grilled yourself according to your own taste and preferences on an outdoor grill together with other guests, is a wonderfully pleasant experience. The meat is of really good quality and the result on the plate is excellent. I highly recommend ??.“

“We went in the late afternoon, at dusk. The place is busy and takes a long time, around 30 minutes or more for orders to come out. We ordered the large minced meat with sauce and pieces of tomato and mushrooms, served with a large portion of fries: this is the house's famous dish and it really doesn't disappoint. What disappoints is the poncha: small and hot. The view of the beach is very good and the place is lively, despite the service being too dry.“

“We walked 4 kms, through the tunnel and along raging waves, to find Câmara de Lobos. For years we have called it “the fishing village”. Now that we discovered Minerva, I guess we will now call the town Câmara de Lobos. To us, it puts this sleepy little village on the map. We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful feast, while overlooking the vibrant small harbour. We had ordered a Croque Madame (unbelievable), Beterraba, Requeijão, Avelã, Mel & Mostarda (beetroot plate), a large draft along with a smaller one. The food was amazing. The beer refreshing on a warm afternoon. Service was friendly and accommodating. Simply put, we loved it. You don’t have to walk 4 kms to get here, there are other ways to accomplish this voyage. We will return.“

“This place really surprised us. Although it is located in a small village, they have a surprisingly rich menu of dishes and the prices here are very popular. And especially the food was better than expected, although the establishment does not play for anything. It was full of locals and many others came in for takeout. If you are nearby I recommend stopping in for a meal, you won't regret it.“

“A true masterpiece in such a small space.??
A simple space on the outside, but inside we have excellent cuisine in snacks, an art gallery to support artisans, a very friendly staff, a very well equipped wine cellar and of course the icing on the cake, the decoration in the your whole.
Go to the bathroom for a repair, you'll understand why. “

“I continue to come to this restaurant whenever I go to Madeira, and I continue to be treated with kindness and to eat good skewers or chopped meats for a very reasonable price. On Thursdays there's tuna with hot corn, and although I'm not a fan, I'm assured it's good. And yes, the view over the western part of Funchal is great.I keep coming here each time I go to Madeira island, and keeping being welcomed with sympathy and having great 'espetadas' and 'picadinhos' for a very reasonable price. On thursdays there is tuna with hot boiled corn, and although I'm not quite fond of it, I was assured it is quite good. And yes, the view over the western area of Funchal is awesome.“
