The waiter was very friendly and guided us through the menu. For a starter we had olives, a selection of breads with tuna pate. For the main we shared the local cod dish with prawns etc., topped with potatoes. This was delicious and we ate the whole dish !. “The food offers are interesting. The place is well located.

However there is an issue with the staff, especially the girls, and I mean all of them.
They don't pay attention to the customers or their requests. Barely do any follow up when stuff is missing.

If the owner/manager is present at all (didn't notice anyone doing any managing all of the times I have been there) then he needs to pay more attention to the waiters and go around the room and terrace to check on customers.

The service is very inconsistent and the complaints that I see here regarding the waiting times, tables that are available for waiting guests that are not informed and dirty tables have all been observed by myself too.

The feeling I have is that the place has great potential, the kitchen staff seems to work very hard but the waiters end up ruining part of the experience. And these details are being missed by management.

Regarding the food complaints that I see here, most of them are unfair and it comes down to people not knowing how to order... Or how to eat...

Summing it up, the fact that the place has a high volume of customers (because the food is obviously good) and not enough waiters that are well trained, means waiting times and missed requests.

The feeling that I have is that most of the waiters have zero experience / training, are basically here for a short duration "summer job", do not care about the customers or the service, and unable to manage the volume of customers.“

The vegetable soup is very good and if you order it, it is served for the little ones. Prices vary a lot from what is asked, there is something for all "wallets". Very attentive and pleasant waiters, orders came out quickly and well even though the restaurant was full.
Apart from the typical starters that are typical of Portugal, they served us a Broa bread filled with cheese and mayonnaise that was delicious, we also ordered a seafood rice for two that was delicious and quite a lot for the price. That, plus a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, with coffee and dessert, were about €66 for both.

Based for years at the suave mar hotel in Esposende every time I come to Portugal, I used to have lunch and dinner in this city or Porto, Braga, Viaba, Barcelos during my visits.
Due to Covid I haven't been here for 5 years. What a disappointment, the desposende restaurants have let themselves go.... little quality and exorbitant prices given the quality and taste offered. Esposende has also lost its aura...

We went with the steak on a stone (house special) and were not disappointed. The steak was fantastic and came with 4 different sauces. The dessert to try is their Sericaia: flour, eggs, milk, sugar and sprinkled with cinnamon. Such a simple recipe but sooo good. Not too sweet, like a pudding/flan texture. “We beat the crowds on Sunday evening in May. The restaurant was a short 15 minute drive from Lousã where we were staying. The restaurant is very attractive & popular filling up quickly. I chose the steak on a tile with migas & volcano potatoes. Fantastic! (The steak was actually veal, super tender, juicy & delicious.) My boyfriend got the chicken with rice, which he enjoyed, but he said not exactly what he was expecting. Our friend had the seafood risotto which she liked but thought it was a little salty. We finished our meals & my boyfriend got an aperitif and asked for the dessert menu, which never came. We waited about 35-40 minutes more to try & get the check and noticed another table go up to the bar counter to pay. My friend & I went outside my boyfriend had to wait another 10 minutes to get the check & finally pay. The restaurant is very popular but was not completely full, think they need to add more servers to handle the crowd. So food 5 stars, service -4 stars.“
