“We had an early dinner here on a Sunday. We almost didn’t go in at first because it was completely empty but in the end we walked in and had a meal. We both got the beef pho with rare and brisket beef flank. IT WAS AWESOME. Pho is one of our favourite dishes and one that we’ve learned to essentially judge restaurants by. This place had absolutely delicious broth, perfectly tender noodles, lots of high quality beef, and a bountiful fixings. Also, the owner was super nice, and the room, while basic, had comfortable banquets. So you should do yourself a favour and get a nice bowl of noodles here to eat in or take out because one of the better noodle shops in the country is sitting right here in Montreal. Who knew?“

It was PACKED with flavours and meat and if you can handle the spice, try going for the spicy option as they have a complimentary bubble tea with every Banh Mí. It’s a great place to try out good Vietnamese food in the city of Montreal.“

“If you want to have a basic meal in the center of Montreal, go to this place. It's located inside a big building at a food court with few other vendors, so you will get some choice. The meals are quite basic, pho soup is not as sophisticated as in other restaurants, but it's a good budget place to eat when you are touring Montreal. Walk around, there is a beautiful passage with a glass roof and a fountain, also some shops.

“This is my favourite Village restaurant. Their food is so fresh and delicious, and their prices are very fair. They pull this off despite having a huge menu. Their sushi is my favourite but their bahn mi and poke bowls are great as well.

It’s mainly a takeout restaurant, even if you sit down you’re getting your food in takeout containers. If you want a more formal experience I’d recommend other places, but if you care about getting the best tasting sushi THIS is the spot.“

“Pho Bac 97 has always been one of my favorite spots whenever I visit Montreal. It is right in Chinatown, which made it really easy to get to since our hotel was only a few minutes away.

The people here are honestly the best part. The owner, the male staff, and Hannah were so sweet and welcoming. They made us feel at home right away and it’s clear they can connect with anyone because they switch so easily between English, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, and probably even more languages. That kind of warmth really makes a difference.

We ordered two Pho Dac Biet XL bowls and one Bi Cuon roll, and with taxes and tip it came to around $50 for the two of us. The food was comforting, flavorful, and authentic. As someone who is part Vietnamese, I really appreciate when a restaurant captures those traditional flavors, and this one absolutely does. At the end they even gave us fortune cookies, which was such a simple but thoughtful little touch.

I’ll be honest, there is a strong smell around the bathroom area that can be a bit distracting, maybe from the age of the building or cleaning issues, but it didn’t take away from how kindly we were treated.

“It's my first time in this place, I was impressed by everything!!! Furnishings, service, food and drinks. A very unusual roll with shrimp and mint in rice parchment . We will definitely try the soup next time . Very friendly staff, despite the large number of visitors, we did not wait and the service was excellent.“

The atmosphere is basic, the decor too, but I really liked the bum Bâ hué, original with lots of interesting flavors, a very, very good soup. I tried the fish soup too and it was ?. For people who want to get away from the traditional tastes of the Viets of Montreal, but with typically Vietnamese tastes in addition to originality, this is really a place for that.“

You have to enter the back of the building, and the menu is outside as well as inside so if you are not satisfied with the prices you don't have to awkwardly leave the restaurant, perfect for the social anxious. not that it would be much of a problem, the prices are great for what you are getting!! upon entering I was greeted by a sweet old lady and she was very accommodating when I asked to to be seated further away because where she wanted to make me sit it was too cramped. she served me a glass of ice water and even put the jug right next to me! the wait was long maybe 15 to 30 mins for the meal with no Wifi but its definitely worth it! The portions are great and the food oh so delicious!! so delicious it made me like the (surprise!) mushrooms in my stir fry when I usually hate mushrooms.?‍ it was chicken that melts in your mouth, delicious veggies that imbibed with the sweet and sour sauce, served with a side of vermicelli and a weird crunchy fried rice thing i forgot the name. The guy was a bit cold but he wasn't straight up rude, maybe he was just shy like me.??‍♀️ Anyways upon paying he didn't try to sneakily slip an overcharge of a few extra dollars like some other family owned restaurants tried in the past with me like that pizza place one time. I calculated everything in front of the menu at the entrance and it was exactly what he charged me, very convenient and right.
