“Our first time at Brasserie Bernard. Very busy (a good sign!), vibrant and beautiful restaurant. Our food was good (oysters, French onion soup and steak & frites were delicious, the burrata salad less so). Recommended wine pairings were great. Service was excellent and very friendly. “The bartenders are some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with, it’s got great prices, and the atmosphere’s just great altogether. After a long day of walking around the city, it’s nice to pop in for a cold pint. It’s cash only, but there’s an ATM right there for you to use, so it’s really not a big deal. I fully get why this place is so beloved.“

“J'ai demandé 3 fois mon reçu à la serveuse, après 3 factures éronnées, j'ai fini par payé 18$ pour un gin tonic simple! Après avoir expliqué la situation au gérant Sam, il me propose des shooters gratuits en compensation, ce que j'accpate directement! Malgré cela, il me sort de l'établissement en prétextant la fermeture du bar. Aggressivement, et sur un ton très condescendant, il m'informe que le bar doit fermer à l'instant, et que je dois quitter sur le champ... Je n'ai jamais reçu ce qui m'était du, et offert!! Personnellement, le bar: "Le madame smith" est un bar où je ne retournerai plus jamais, tant le service que pour le respect du client! -1/10 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼“

“As corner pubs go, this one hits all the right boxes. Small place, can get crowded, but that's part of the charm, good selection of drinks and beers. If you want something fancy, they can also get it from the upstairs cigar lounge. Sitting at the bar and playing the box for a round of shots is always a good time. The people who work here are some of the best bar staff in the city, also very knowledgeable about the city if you're visiting and wondering what to do next. Many an evening can start here and after experiencing some of the awesomeness Montreal has to offer, it can also end here for that final night cap before staggering to taxi and heading home.“

“For anyone wondering if this is a good bar, it is! For years I was skeptical about this place because of its location but I was so surprised when I opened the door. You can’t tell from outside but the space is actually really nice and cozy and SUPER clean! Their bathrooms are spotless, their counters and fridges are so so clean, everything shines. I was served by a bartender that has been working there for 16 years, a beautiful lady with a great smile. The atmosphere was great, it’s the kind of bar where people easily talk to each other, we made a friendship in there.There’s only one catch, there are slots in there that can attract a certain kind of stressed people.Give the bar a chance, I recommend it.Ah! “We had lunch at this # Brasseurs location on St-Paul E. in Old Montreal on Thursday May 2, 2024. We choose this because we had a very good time at the other on on Rue de St-Denis on Tue 4/30/24. We had just completed a 2-1/2 hr walking tour that ended near here. So exploring is thirsty work & it was lunch time. Big brewpub with 2 levels. The upper level was hosting about 100 high school students on a field trip. We sat at the bar and were immediately acknowledged by the busy bartender, Marina. She brought menus & waters and took our drink orders. I had a spicy Bloody Maria ($6.75) & my bride had a white wine ($10). I had a loaded, juicy burger w/ frites ($20) and she had the chicken Caesar salad ($16). Well prepared, burger hot & salad cold-perfect. “Wow! We came for beer and maybe something salty to nibble. I expected the beer to be high level and it was. A pleasant surprise was that the food was every bit as good as the beer. We stuck to a few appetizers but they were all above and beyond. The service was terrifically friendly as well. Thank you all.“
