Excellent déjeuner 🍳 très bon service
This review is for the cafe, not the hotel. In ratings Room = Food and Location = Atmosphere. We went to Cafe Krieghoff for dinner on a Thursday night in mid-August, a party of two. This is a large establishment from what I've seen, there are two indoor dining areas on two floor, a balcony, and ground level terrace, which is where we were seated. Stopped by for a late breakfast on a weekday morning and the espresso was genuinely excellent, better than most places I've hit across Europe recently. The server recommended the croque monsieur and it came out perfectly browned, not soggy like so many versions I've had. It's a small spot with worn wooden tables and that lived-in neighborhood feel, nothing touristy about it despite being close to the old city. The café is an excellent place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Customers have praised the traditional poutine, which features real cheese curds and a tasty Demi-glaze brown gravy. The service is expedient but not overbearing, and the staff are friendly, speaking both English and French.
