I can't give it Five Stars because the help has sometimes been a bit unprofessional. But I get past that as they are often mobbed in the summertime. I've been usually very happy with the food. The Oysters are fresh and the meals are substantial and very tasty. The service however, has not been consistent and sometimes right from the front door, they are a minor disaster. I like this place and always want to return.

wow. my fiance and i loved our outdoor experience. Great service and very friendly. Awesome oysters and shrimp. but then we went in to the bar for a drink and probably had the worst bartender experience ever. so incredibly rude and out of line. Yes we will go back because we loved the food and drink...an yes we hope that bartender finds a career move where he doesn't need to be such an a****** to good people.

After driving a few hours from NYC to Newport, my boyfriend and I tried to eat here on Wed 8/18 in the late afternoon/early evening, but it was closed! What greeted us was a handwritten sign on the door "CLOSED. Sorry for the inconvenience!" We ended up eating at Benjamin's next door (food was ok). I came back the next day, and it was still closed. What happened? Is the restaurant ever going to re-open, or has it closed for good?

We went to this restaurant at around 8pm on a Saturday evening just for drinks and appetizers. Our waitress was very pleasant and the theme of the restaurant was great. They had a solo guy singing some cover songs at the front of the restaurant which was quite enjoyable as well. We ordered stuffies which were unbelievable, oysters which were very large and delicious, mussels which were pretty good and lobster pizza, the only item which we were not pleased with. This pizza was $18 and with 6 very small pieces, it was hardly worth it. All else was terrific!

This place was ok for what it was. It was the best chowder we had in Newport. My husband had it at every restaurant. Don't even ask me how much weight I gained on this trip. Anyway....Quahog's chowder is superb!!!!!! We also shared a boring but large $7 garden salad..nice presentation considering we were in pretty much of a dive and we shared the fish and chips. BIG fish portion. Lightly battered and hearty fish. We really enjoyed it. Our service was very good but I can see where other people didn't have good service. It was clear our waitress liked us and was cool but the others looked hot and miserable. I swear this place was not air conditioned. It was really hot in there!!! Don't try to order anything too fancy. Stick with the basics. =)
