We typically have a wonderful experience when dining at the Bistro but for some reason we noticed that the food quality is lacking recently. Perhaps this was just an off day when we were there for breakfast this week. We plan on being there soon and will know if it was just an off day or not.
I ordered the grilled salad with grilled shrimp. It was supposed to come with grilled corn which is why I ordered it...No corn... When they asked how my meal was, I answered that I was missing the grilled corn and had zucchini instead....The next thing I knew the entire dish, including the shrimp, were comped! Pleased, but the shrimp were perfect. We have enjoyed The Ocean House many times and have always been pleased. today was no different.
The menu was boring, even more so than prior visits. The food however, was very good. The service was shaky to start. Eventually, it got more in line with prior visits, which have been thoroughly enjoyable. Oliver turned out to be a terrific waiter. Was disappointed when they just threw down some zuchinni without explanation. We did get hold of the boss. The chef personally visited our table with an apology and explanation. The waitstaff are outstanding and go above and beyond to make each visit special, showing genuine care and professionalism. The atmosphere is exceptional and perfect for celebrating a special occasion, enhanced by the enjoyable jazz music played outside the dining room. The beautiful ocean view from the back creates a lovely setting, adding to the overall experience. The live entertainment by a talented pianist/singer enhances the ambiance, making it even more memorable. From the friendly valet to the attentive hostess, every detail is carefully handled to ensure a perfect evening. The food is excellent, with highlights including raw oysters, octopus, scallops with Brussels sprouts, calamari, crab cakes, the New York Steak, and crème brûlée. Guests have praised the quality and presentation of the meals, with the crab cakes noted for being light and full of meat. The staff is helpful and provides wonderful wine recommendations, contributing to a relaxing vibe. The manager's dedication to customer service is evident, making each visit memorable. The atmosphere remains calm, and the beach view enhances the experience, making it a lovely afternoon for visitors.
