The Goat Downtown is hands-down one of my favorite places in Greenville. The bartenders—Tiffany, Kristie, Heather, Jennifer, and Jenny—are truly amazing. They’re welcoming, attentive, and make everyone feel like a regular the second they walk in. Huge shoutout as well to Melvin, the owner, for creating such a genuine, inclusive space, and to the kitchen staff for consistently great food.

This bar is open to every culture, every kind of person, and treats every customer with respect and love. When I first moved downtown Greenville, The Goat became my safe space—a place where I felt comfortable, seen, and at home.

As for negative Google reviews: most of them honestly just reflect people who don’t understand bar culture. If you’re expecting Ritz-Carlton service at a bar & grill, downtown has plenty of other restaurants that might better fit that expectation. The Goat is exactly what it’s supposed to be—fun, welcoming, real, and full of good energy.

If you want great drinks, great people, and an even better atmosphere, this is the spot. 🍻🐐“

“What a nice surprise. Being from out of town, we weren’t certain what to expect but this establishment was so fun, friendly, and the food was excellent. Not a huge menu, but what they do, they do well. Everything is hand breaded..from the shrimp to the chicken tenders. It’s a little smokey inside but the food and fun make up for it. If we lived here, we’d become regulars.“

This space removed so much stress from my usual struggle of leaving home with infant twins! “We just had a surprise Dinner Party for my Husband at Coral. Jen could not have helped me more setting up the plans for a surprise evening!! She helped me pre-order Appetizers and Dessert. She was very quick with responses to all of my questions and made helpful suggestions to me. Our table ordered Sea Food, Lamb, and Vegetarian Dishes and everyone was beautifully presented and delicious. The Appetizers looked like they belonged in a magazine and were delicious as well! We could not have been more pleased with our experience. This was about the fourth time at Coral and it is hands down our favorite place to dine in Greenville, SC! “Mac's is a great place to eat! The food is always delicious. The menu options are great with a lot of different items to choose from.

However, the most outstanding feature of Mac's is a server named Sarah. Sarah goes above and beyond to know her customers and remembers them by name when you return. You always feel like family when talking to Sarah! She has a photogenic memory! I always request Sarah when visiting Mac's.

The food and the atmosphere was pleasant and perfectly acceptable. But the reason I'm taking a moment to leave a review, is because the service has been extraordinary. I think Charleston servers have gotten a bit too snooty. I don't know, but I have had better service this evening with Dana, than I have had at five star restaurants in one of the top foodie cities in the country. It wasn't just us. I watched her it every table. She was on it and didn't miss a beat even once they were becoming crowded. But mainly it was her attitude. She was so engaging with every single table, no matter who, no matter what. Her level of care and concern is something I can only hope comes back to my area one day.
