Very busy and yet the service was still attentive and friendly. The biscuits are huge, buttery and soft. The Jalepeno pimento cheese has a nice background flavor (reminded me of Old Bay), and was not too spicy. I added the pimento cheese to the grits.... Heaven!! I thought I knew how to cook grits....time to up my game. Callie's has true Southern Grits. So creamy and delicious!!
Crowded location in the Charleston city market with hundreds of people buzzing around. Was hungry and heard of Callie's so I had to try it. Had the goat cheese, arugula and blackberry jam biscuit- $9 bucks plus tip, tax, better be worth it for a $13 biscuit! Waiting with anticipation I looked at their other menu options like mini biscuits (sweet and savory), grits, gluten free biscuits too. Got my order, sat at a bench to chow down. This biscuits are good - there's no denying that. However I ordered a hot honey biscuit and got something else. That was disappointing. We ordered the strawberry shortcake biscuits and they were PHENOMENAL! (See "delicious strawberry shortcake" photo). It was so good we went back the next day to order it again.
