I stopped by Carmella’s with my boyfriend after dinner. They have drunken shakes (alcohol milkshakes) which was our primary reason for going. It was very tasty, not sure how much alcohol they actually put in it, but I would get it again. They also offer a variety of desserts which looked amazing. The desserts did seem a little pricey but a ton of people were ordering. They have a lot of seating and a lot of other drink options.

Max and Marco are the absolute best bartenders I have ever dealt with in this town (as someone from an F+B background.) I'm absolutely blown away by their attentiveness and genuine kindness that truly feels authentic in a city that typically trends towards tourist traps nowadays. Carmela's is an absolute institution a must visit. And BTW... this is coming from a local!

first time visiting here. ordered Lemon pistachio olive oil cake and I liked that it wasn't too sweet, however I wasn't a fan of the flavor, just wasn't tasty to me. maybe I just picked the wrong dessert. additionally, the mini cakes are big enough for 2+ persons. my husband and I shared and still took home half the cake. cost over $20.00 just for the cake! also got a macaroon which was ok, was a little dry for my taste. cappuccino was average. they only allow dogs at outside tables which you have to catch at the right time to get. it's a cute dessert place, but they don't seem to have any traditional southern desserts which is what I was looking for.

I have walked by this place about a year ago, so when staying at a nearby hotel on this visit to Greenville, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I went in right after they opened for the day to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry. I ordered a small cup of coffee, not any special, funky, crazy coffee or espresso drink – simply coffee. That coffee was one of the worst cups of coffee I’ve ever had. It was thick and sour/bitter tasting. I would assume it was leftover from the night before, but I couldn’t imagine anyone would do this (praying no one would)! Could it be the blend they use? Perhaps, but it’s awful, so I hope not! The pastry I ordered was the Bombolini… It looked pretty good and when I bit into it, it was amazing! Very tasty and I love the texture of the dough. Definitely a very nice pasty, but it was sad that I couldn’t enjoy coffee with it, though I tried. I tried to take more sips of that coffee, but it was very tough, so I gave up after about 1/3 of the small cup. Service was decent. The place looked nice but I didn’t eat there, rather I took it to-go and ate in my hotel room and since it was raining, I wasn’t going to go back to complain about the coffee. Would I return? No. I get that they have great reviews, but if you can’t get coffee right, I’m done.
We went to Carmello's twice for desserts. Tried a nice variety and everything was simply to die for. We had a chocolate peanut butter cake, a pecan tart, large butter almond cookie, and blueberry muffin. Good thing they aren't in my home town. I'd be there every day. In addition to their great desserts, they offer coffee and breakfast.
Went here for a quick coffee. Some young lovely lady was at the counter. She was very kind and the best attitude. She had a cheer about her! Her name was Brooke!!! She deserves something special!
Incredible atmosphere. Was initially greeted by Max, he was lovely and super helpful. Marco and Michelle had amazing suggestions and made them so quickly after we ordered. 10/10 experience, my favorite dessert spot in charleston.
Took my family here for the first time! It was wonderful! Brooke was seriously the absolute best! She was so kind and wonderful. We love her so much! Go see Brooke and get the carrot cake!!!
