Tried Honeycomb cafe for the first time since moving to DI a year and a half ago and I majorly regret taking my out of town guests here. We were sat outside as requested but we waited on a server for 20 minutes. I tried to order a speciality coffee to which the server said “I'm sorry but our madchjne has been down for a month.” We waited on drinks and then ordered. I ordered the Denver burrito and the server told me they had no pork chili which seemed to be the main ingredient. I didn't want my guests to have to wait any longer so I asked to still order the dish without the chili. When our food arrived we asked for ketchup, 20 mins later and no ketchup and we had to ask a server passing by to send ours over. When she brought the ketchup we had to point out that all of our drinks were empty. We finished eating, 20 mins later and no server to ask for the check. One of my guests went in and asked for the checks. The server didn't recognize her and had no clue what table we were at, 15 mins later and we all 3 got up and went inside to pay. This was my first and last visit to the honeycomb cafe.

I called in to place a to go order. I kind of knew what I wanted but asked for clarification on a menu item; the person that answered let out a HUGE sigh and huffed that “we're so busy!” then she grabbed a menu and started reading. FYI.. I was DONE with this call after the sigh! I'd rather get no answer when I call than to get an attitude! — a word to the wise; you never know who's on the other end of the phone so you should treat everyone with courtesy and respect because that person could be a link to your next job opportunity or business venture!

We went for a late breakfast so we'd miss the rush. Got there at 11:15am. Every table in the restaurant was dirty, and they told us to just sit anywhere. We did. It took someone else to notice we'd been sitting at a dirty table for 15 minutes, and agree came over, apologized, got us menus, and took our drink order. She brought our coffee and water promptly. Our "real" waitress was still yet to be seen. Another 10 mins goes by before she greets us and takes our order. There were a total of three tables when we entered. Our food came out in quick fashion and it was all hot and delicious. I could tell they'd had a busy spell when we first arrived, but that's never an excuse to ignore new guests, or leave a restaurant full of dirty tables.

Very friendly service and the food was good. My son says the pancakes were amazing and I loved the biscuits. The corned beef hash is definitely not from a can! My only complaint would be the wait, but I would like to caveat that with the fact we tend to live in a fast service world with 2 minute attention spans. Maybe this place actually gave my family time to sit and have a conversation.

Rusic interior and a diverse menu. Good prices for the quantity and quality. They seem to be eternally out of waffles but the chicken and waffles is a must if available. One of the best times to visit is for a late weekday lunch, the place is barely busy and very quite at these times. Otherwise, peak brunch time on weekends and even breakfast on weekdays can become hectic.
