Walked in and sat down at the bar. Waitress standing there texting on her phone couldn't be bothered to acknowledge myself or the gentleman who walked in before me. I finally yelled, "Excuse me, can we get some assistance?" She was not happy at all, made a comment to another coworker, then came down, said the bartender was in the back doing something, gave us menus, and walked away. Just because it's not your section doesn't mean you should ignore guests, especially if you know the server/bartender is busy and unaware of our presence.

Hey Mac's, nice response, considering all your low reviews are about the poor service. Maybe instead of sarcasm, you address the issue ?

Very impressed! Shelby is thee highest quality server we have had in all of Charleston. While in other bars, pubs and restaurants we waited between 20-30 minutes to finally get to order drinks. By the time we got to Macs at 10:10 pm on Nov 2, 2024, our party of 11 just finished a less than stellar Boos & Booze tour. We were all starving and sadly, quite thirsty as our tour lacked sufficient beverages. Shelby knew exactly what we needed AND she delivered! Shelby made up for what our other service experiences lacked this weekend. Within 30 min we had beverages AND appetizers already at the table. She was also able to split our bill exactly the way we requested it. Shelby was a breath of fresh air. Also, the food was incredible! Thank you Macs & Shelby to a great end to our evening! ??

Sports bar with arcade games and TVs everywhere. We got a Chicago handshake. Fun and quirky. Busy place, huge bar, tons of tables and booths. Staff was very friendly - had a great time

Our waitress just stole my cell phone. I used my watch to find it. She hid it under the cash register. I am disappointed in their staff.

service was absolutely horrific. had to ask for water THREE TIMES. put in an app of nachos and mac and cheese bites. didn’t receive the bites until way after done eating the nachos. took forever to take our order for main course. comes back to ask us for our order because he forgot what we said. forgets to bring out an order and tries to make up for by giving us something we didn’t ask for. then when we got the missing order- it was missing fries. his demeanor was rude. he was very negligent. then when it came to getting our check, he asked us three times what we ordered to give us our check. he seemed very intoxicated. even after getting our orders to get the check, he still came back to ask us what drinks we got. just an absolute chaotic mess. will never come here again.

After a very long walk enjoying Charleston, we were ready for a bite to eat. Charleston is definitely a “foodie” town with endless options but we were looking for a good, non pretentious place for dinner. We found Mac’s Place and it didn’t disappoint. It was perfect! Excellent service, fantastic food and a great, friendly atmosphere. A bonus- Chicago connection too. Highly recommend.

Loved this place! Atmosphere and customer service was great as were the prices...nothing like an old fashion reuben and a few cold beers on a hot Charleston evening.

We didn’t order food but what we saw looked really good. People cleared their plates so that’s a good sign. Love love love the old school Chicago bar vibe. We miss that. Cubs and Sox fans, getting along…MASS HYSTERIA. If you need a Midwest/Chicago fix, stop in here.

We love a good Irish pub/bar but sadly after being here for over 20 minutes and basically being ignored we left. We sat ourselves as directed, it was not very busy, 2 pm on a Friday. We sat, looking at menus that I found, facing the bar watching the Olympics. After about 10 minutes I husband went to the bar to order since no one came to us. The woman behind the bar told us a server would come to us. Another few minutes passed and a server came and got our beer order, did not ask us if we wanted any food which we did want. We watched him go and hang out behind the end of the bar but our drafts were never poured and after 10 more minutes passed, with no beer and no more contact with our server (who was still just talking with others behind the bar), we left and had an awesome lunch and beverage at RuRu’s a few blocks down the street.

We love Mac’s!! One of our favorite pubs, especially my husband. We find this on our honeymoon in October to watch playoffs and came back to it in July. It is our go to spot to catch a Phillies game when we aren’t home! Food is good and everything is reasonably priced!

I’m a Chicagoan that loves to travel to Charleston during the brutal winters. Mac’s is my favorite slice of home. It’s got great service, all the beers I’m used to, and my favorite teams on tv. It’s really large and has ample bar, table, and booth spots. It’s also centrally located to the city so you don’t have to go far from the rest of fun in town. I stop by here every time I’m in CHS.

Excellent Irish Nachos! Great staff and we watched the England Football Match during Euro 2024. Server even put the volume up for us. Cold A/C cold beer, totally recommend.

If you are looking for a Chicago style bar in Charleston, look no further. Fun atmosphere with plenty of places to sit at bar or at tables. Was busy. Good beer selections. Remember, if the server recommends Malört, you are in the right place and should try it once. You will never forget it.
