Mario's Italian Ristorante Reviews
Three of us came in to have an expresso martini as the sign outside the restaurant advertised as we were walking by. We had our children with us so they sat us at a table. The restaurant was empty at the time. The owner or manager came over to our table to let us know that since we were only ordering drinks we should have sat at the bar and not taken up one of his tables. Mind you, it was empty in there. We felt very unwelcome. Very poor customer service. We will not be back....read full review
delicious meal with great service. everything was wonderful, from the bread to pasta to tiramisu. Dogu took good care of us.
Our experience at Mario’s was not great. We went with high hopes for some good pizza, based on the reviews. We ordered calamari and mozzarella sticks off the appetizer section, and we were disappointed. The food seemed frozen but not terrible. We told the waitress we were just going to have the appetizers and asked for a check, and that’s when it all changed. The waitress disappeared for quite some time, so we had to ask another person to go find her. When we left, the owner...read full review

Mario's Italian Ristorante offers a terrific dining experience with great service, atmosphere, and outstanding food. The restaurant is known for its fun and outgoing servers who engage with customers, even challenging them to pronounce the Italian dish names. While the service can be slow at times, it adds to the authentic Italian vibes of the place. The food is consistently delicious and comes out quickly, making it a great family-friendly spot in Downtown Charleston, often filled with families and kids.
The menu is small but features very simple Italian dishes like tasty pizzas, including the margherita pizza, and pasta with great gravy and Alfredo sauce. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola has been highlighted for its delicious flavor, despite a presentation that some may find too saucy. The carbonara is described as incredible, and the bruschetta is considered amazing. The lasagne and charcuterie platter are delicious, and salads are fantastic. Wine is expensive while beer is relatively cheap. Prices are fair, and vegetarian options include pasta dishes and pizzas. Though the food is consistent, it may not blow you away, but they do what they do right. Service is fast, though not always warm or friendly, which can bring back memories of dining in Italy. Overall, Mario's is a place that many diners find themselves wanting to return to during their time in Charleston.
