7 Best Craft Breweries near Columbia

Columbia Craft Brewing Company Brewery • $
520 Greene St, Columbia

“Columbia Craft was awesome, and was such a fun place to stop in on a Sunday afternoon. It was a very chill and laid-back environment, and the ambiance was unique and playful as well. The two bartenders they had on staff that day were cool, knowledgeable, and welcoming, and were able to guide us through their impressive selection of craft beers.

Unfortunately, the rooftop section of the restaurant was closed on the day that I went, but from the outside, it looked like a really neat place to stop in when it is open. They also had a nice outdoor seating area, which appears to be the perfect place to enjoy a beer on a nice, sunny, but not overly hot or humid day.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Hazy IPAs that me and my friend got were great, and were among the best that I've gotten from any other brewery that I've ever been to.

All-in-all, five (5) stars for Columbia Craft, which was a great brewery experience!“

Hunter-Gatherer Brewery Brewery • $$
1402 Jim Hamilton Blvd, Columbia

“Nice battery brewery with small menu of traditional bar food. Wide selection of beers that is updated regularly. Not a huge selection of food, but the pizza I ordered was fairly large and tasted like pizza. A lot of space to sit so large groups can be accommodated, including both indoors and outdoors. The building is an old airplane hanger and includes a large amount of brewing equipment which is really cool to see. A great spot to hang out and drink with friends.“

Bierkeller Brewing Company Brewery • $
600 Canalside St Suite 1009, Columbia

“Tucked along the scenic banks of the Congaree River in Columbia, SC, Bierkeller Brewing Company is an absolute gem if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing brewery experience with great beer, food, and service. The brewery sits right by the Three Rivers Greenway, offering stunning riverside views and a huge, well-designed outdoor biergarten that feels peaceful and open, even on busy days. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly, and has plenty of shade and seating—perfect for everything from a solo afternoon beer to a group gathering.

The beer is excellent—crisp, clean German-style lagers brewed with serious attention to tradition. Every pour tastes fresh and balanced, and the variety is enough to keep both casual drinkers and beer lovers happy. The food pairs beautifully with the beer: soft pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel sandwiches, and rotating specials that keep the menu interesting without being overwhelming.

Service is friendly, fast, and laid-back. The bartenders and servers are knowledgeable and happy to talk through the beer selection or offer samples. Best of all, the vibe here is calm. Even with live music or trivia nights, the volume stays manageable, and you never feel rushed or crowded.

Bierkeller has become a go-to spot for relaxing by the river with a great pint in hand. Highly recommend!“

“The food was delicious! Truffle fries were tasty and Not greasy and crispy! My husband had the burger with the bacon and it was fresh made and juicy. I had my burger bunless with the mushroom soup (a little up charge) but delicious was served with tomato and lettuce with a side of mushrooms ( nice touch.) Their kitchen is a scratch kitchen. Everything made there! The pumpkin beer was delicious and my husband enjoyed their IPA’s. Travis, one of the managers was awesome! We even joined their club for 20.00. It’s a one time fee and we got it back I. Points as a credit for our next visit. With the club you get an extra 6oz pour each.“
