Shoney's Reviews
I haven't been to a Shoney's in a while. When I went to this one on Friday, September 6th, it took them a little while to open. They were supposed to be open at 7:00. They didn't open until 7:15. The tea was sour. The water tasted soapy. Breakfast bar was cold, the steamer was not turned on. The food tasted old and dry. The greeter/waitress/store lead was loud and obnoxious. We had to wait to be seated. She complained constantly. She was an older black lady with glasses. I tipped...read full review
A Noticeable Change
I ate at this store earlier in the week and was disappointed at the service and unprofessional attitude. I had decided that I would not go back, and that I would spend my money elsewhere. However, I decided to grace this location with my presence once more to give them another chance. I must say that there was a huge change in the service and attitudes for the best. Garners Ferry Shoney’s in Columbia, SC. The buffet food had turned/fermented. Green beans, corn, tomatoes & okra, roast potatoes all tasted like vinegar. The applesauce and ambrosia salad had fermented. The banana pudding was grainy. Salad was not even good. We will never go back again. Actually, I am a little concerned about our health after leaving.

Shoney's offers a variety of food options, with customers praising the exquisitely flavored pink salmon and the attentive staff. The restaurant has a kid-friendly atmosphere and provides plenty of room for wheelchairs, making it accessible for all. There have been comments about the limited options in the lunch buffet, which some described as overpriced for its selection of rice, chicken, and salad. However, many customers found the food to be good, with some enjoying the breakfast buffet. A pro tip shared by a customer suggests having a big breakfast at Shoney's to hold you over until dinner, allowing one to skip lunch. While there were mixed reviews about service, with some noting initial confusion over who would serve them, the overall dining experience has improved significantly, with recent visitors reporting excellent meals and well-proportioned servings.
