“Food is Explosively Delicious“

“The food was mediocre. My daughter got meatloaf and she said it tasted like a tv dinner. It made her stomach hurt and she threw up. She said it felt like something plastic came out. I had country style steak with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and pinto beans. You could tell the pinto beans were from a can, instant potatoes and the Mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The only thing that was good is the sampler appetizer. Probably my last time I’ll eat there.“

“My mother and I are visiting from out of town and heard incredible reviews about this place. We walked over from our hotel and SO glad we did. The food was incredible, staff was beyond patient, kind, and provided a great atmosphere. I want to address the two negative reviews (from the same party, they are just really trying to bring down this establishment) below because my mother and I were unfortunately sat near such a hateful group of women. Their topics of conversation were crude, shallow, and they had a lot of comments around the demographic of those that were serving them. Our server was in tears because of the racist behavior of this group, yet she handled their hate with grace. The staff were not talking bad about the woman, they were trying to assess how to de-escalate such an unnecessary temper tantrum. What really set the group off was the cake charge and they decided to use that as grounds to call their server explicit insults - truly appalling behavior. They called the manager over and the manager, Anna, was quick to sternly and strongly defend her employee who was bullied by a table she was trying to serve. Anba did not yell, she did not raise her voice, and remained professional. Those were not the actions of the unhinged, hateful woman that slammed her things down, slammed the restaurant door, and threatened to “go off” several times, all while calling the staff as many degrading insults she could come up with.

I will be (traveling 3+ hours) back to support this establishment again and again because of the fantastic service and top-tier meals. I hope the family below finds it in their hearts to address & work to change the truly embarrassingly and extremely harmful behavior they exhibited this evening. I would anticipate not so many birthdays would be “ruined”, if they would work to be a bit more kind and not throw temper tantrums in public.

“Consistently good seafood. Fresh tasting, properly cooked and seasoned. Friendly and attentive service. Not too casual and not too fancy but a good dining experience. More expensive than some local places but some of the best seafood in the area.“

“I eat here every time I am in GSP. (Which happens to be about once a week) My server, I believe her name was April- Amazing!! I had the tuna, 1/2 raw oysters and a dozen clams. All EXCEPTIONAL AND quite tasty. Love the outside patio. SS is definitely one of my faves!!! A++ *Chef’s Kiss 😘“

“First off, great staff!! They are very friendly, attentive, and accommodating.You are always greeted with a smile. The food is absolutely delicious. I always get at least 2 dozen raw oysters to start with a side of their cheesy grits, that taste like they came from my grandma's kitchen. I've been going there for years and have enjoyed every meal from sushi to steak, to smothered chicken to scallops. The food is phenomenal. Clearly the chefs take pride in every meal they prepared. Delicious food, portioned and priced right. The GBOH never disappoints. The backbone of the operation is Diane & Katie. They are always there and make you feel like family. I live in Florida and when I'm in South Carolina, after stopping to see family, my next stop is GBOH!!! LOVE IT!!“

“I should have posted here years ago. I have just read the reviews for the first time at the time of my writing this review.I know that I am recognized there and I recognize some of the employees. I have purchased from here many times and many different types fish and shellfish. Usually, I am getting sashimi grade Ahi and Mahi, which has always been outstanding. I let them know what I intend on making and the shape and sizes prepared for me have been thought out.Always great quality and great prices. I'm buying for myself not a restaurant. I like that I don't have to purchase large quantities or whole fish.I call ahead and get my order prepared sometimes a day ahead, sometimes the same day. I'm not a restaurant so I understand that they are really doing me a service; I am not keeping them in business. Many wholesalers in the industry don't want to deal with the public for the very reason that is expressed in some of the negative reviews. Fisherman can't always go out, they don't always catch what they want or know how much they'll catch. The markets don't always have what you want because they only have fresh catches. Big orders and regular customers come first. And if you are willing to eat fish that has been out of the water for days - go to the supermarket. The staff has always been polite and appropriate; I don't actually want a hug or need a new BFF. I want fish fit for making my own sushi and I have been using the fish from G.U.S.T.O. at least three meals a week.“

“Our server Emilio was great. Very friendly and informative. It was our first time visiting so he explained everything very well. The food was amazing. From the empanada to the Ropa vieja so well done and flavorful. Very impressed and will definitely be back.“

“One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The atmosphere is wonderful. We started with an appetizer of the thick cut bacon which was to die for. Followed up by the New York Strip which was cooked to perfection, and possibly the most flavorful steak I’d ever eaten. We usually do not get desert, but everything so far was so delicious that we could not pass it up. We tried the white chocolate banana cream pie and the butter cake, and an espresso martini. OMG is all I can think to say. Stefan was our waiter, and he was amazing with his detailed descriptions and recommendations. We will definitely be back, and will hopefully be waited on by Stefan again.“

Luke, our server, was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond any expectation we could have dreamed of. I've never had someone who was so committed to making our experience truly special! You're one of a kind my guy! Kaden did an excellent job ensuring we were well taken care of! The manager, David I believe was his name, was attentive and checked in multiple times to ensure we were having a great time and enjoying our experience. The food and drinks were excellent! “I had the most delicious fish sandwish at M&J Restaurant today for lunch. The server was attentive and prompt with drinks, and the food was piping hot when brought to the table. We all enjoyed the restaurant very much and we will go there again as our son lives in Lyman and it is close to his house. They have lots of TVs so I bet for fotball games the place really fills up.“

“We come here almost every month on a Sunday and we took my mom here 3-4 times when she was here visiting from the Philippines. Today, it was just me, my husband and my kids as my mom already went back home. The server immediately asked and mentioned my mom (saying something like Mama is not here today?). It was really sweet and impressive that they recognized and noticed the customers. Plus the food is really good, my youngest daughter always asks after church to come here for fried fish. Highly recommended!“

“I've seen it in the making, which it always will be due to the second to none creativity of the owner, and that same endless creativity also goes into the delicious food items. A place where you can point at any food item on the menu with your eyes closed and always be surprised and delighted with what comes out of the kitchen. “I had a really good grilled chicken dinner nice portion of chicken and excellent mashed potatoes all for under $10. I took it the most about 10 minutes to receive the food it was very surprising how good everything was. Are using we will definitely be back!“

“5 Stars - Exceptional Dining Experience

My wife and I visited Lieu’s Asian Bistro last night, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! We hadn’t been in a while, but from the moment we walked in, we were promptly seated and reminded why we’ve always enjoyed this gem.

I wasn’t feeling 100%, so I opted for a ginger ale with bitters and a water with three lemons (my go-to drink), while my wife had sweet tea. We started with the Miso and Wonton soups alongside the Spring Rolls, which were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. My wife noted a surprise bit of chicken in her miso soup but still found it delicious.

For our entrées, my wife chose the Pan-Fried Chilean Sea Bass with ginger, scallions, and a sweet soy glaze over a bed of spinach, served with white rice. She said it was cooked to absolute perfection—easily the best in the Upstate! I had the Shrimp & Scallops with snow peas, shiitake mushrooms, and a delicate white wine sauce. It was equally phenomenal.

We were so satisfied that we had no room for dessert, though my wife has her sea bass leftovers to enjoy later. I had only a little left on my plate because it was just that good.

The service was prompt and attentive, making our dining experience seamless. My only minor suggestion would be a decor refresh to brighten the interior and update the dining area, but I know that’s a big undertaking.

The food, however, is perfection and needs no changes. Lieu’s remains a hidden culinary treasure—fabulous food and a fabulous experience! 5 stars!“

“Pretty typical small family-owned Chinese restaurant from my experience. The food is good and it’s affordable for a take-out lunch. Actually I spend less here than I do at Panda Express if you can believe it. You could go to upscale Chinese and get excellent service in a beautiful dining room and probably not do a whole lot better on the food. Just my two cents.“

“Wings are a very serious thing. Wings have started arguments, ended relationships, and separated siblings; at least in my world. So when I say that wings are a serious thing, that's what I have seen. The staff has always been courteous to me. Some people may have bad days at work, I haven't experienced those moments at this business; but I know they occur... somewhere. They never seem as if they are in rush to get me out of line, they are patient. The atmosphere is quaint. I remember the first time I walked inside the business. What was impressive was the laundry list of dry rubs and wet sauces that they could provide. The business has always been clean, every time that I have entered the business. The wings are great. I love a spicy sauce with extra crispy wings. Are they perfect every time, no; but enough to keep going back. I am sure there are other things that are on the menu, but I am only there for the Wings. I forgot to mention that they can offer the wings smoked, and then your flavor can be added. Are you looking for anything more?“
