We live in Spartanburg SC and Whaley’s is a must “go to” when we come to Edisto, which is usually 4 or 5 times a year. I was looking over the reviews just for kicks and saw a few 1 star reviews. These reviewers just don’t get it. It’s sad for the people that don’t get Whaley’s. It is one of mine and my wife’s happy places. We “get it” and always leave with plans to return on our next visit. Thanks Whaley’s!

Always great food in the little and historic hideaway on Edisto. Our Edisto visit is never complete without a stop by for some fresh shrimp. So glad it survived the hurricane.

My wife and I were recently visiting Edisto Beach. We had been to this seafood establishment during a previous visit and had talked about why we weren't impressed. Cold and hungry, we decided to grab a bowl of Shrimp/Crab Bisque soup and give this place a second attempt. After our server took our drink orders, we quickly remembered why we didn't particularly care for this restaurant. THEY CHARGE $2.95 FOR A BOTTLE OF WATER!!!There are no other options for obtaining water (unless you bring your own). The server stated it was due to funky, foul-smelling marsh water. That leads me to wonder how they wash dishes or cook food for that matter. Pretty sure they aren't in the prep area using Whaley's bottled water. Anyway, we got soups to go. The soup is just ok. It was hot served up in to-go Styrofoam cups. We have had better bisque before from restaurants who serve FREE water. What a concept! If you've never been to Edisto Beach, go check it out. There are other seafood restaurants/eateries on the island that rival this place. Good luck!

We used to go in there when it sold fishing gear & hardware. Still conjures up old times. Crab cakes & fried flounder sandwiches are both hits! Good place to be.

Whaley’s was very busy and the host/waitress kept everything moving. It was a 30 minute wait but a cold beer and a little bit of people watching and it went quickly. Could not believe how great the waitress was and how accurate everything was for how busy the restaurant was. Have been here before and always like eating at Whaley’s but this was a great experience with family that had never been here. Thank You Whaley’s!!

Eclectic seafood dive and bar found in Edisto Island, SC. Even on a Sunday night in November, the Whaley's was super crowded. We waited a long time before being seated. Can't imagine the business during peak season. My wife and I each ordered a bowl of shrimp and crab bisque. Laid into the creamy bisque lightly flavored with sherry were three nicely seasoned broiled shrimp. However, we thought the sherry gave it a slightly peculiar and unpleasant taste. We shared a shrimp platter with fries and a pepperish cup of slaw. The shrimp is caught locally, which are fresh and plump in size. Our fried shrimp were lightly breaded and tender to the bite. There was plenty in the order for the both of us. We were well pleased with our meal, and would definitely return.

Stayed at Edisto this past week remodeling a home. Had dinner here both nights. Food was amazing. Crab cake, stuffed shrimp and fried seafood were top notch. Kirby and Savina behind the bar were an absolute pleasure. Made me feel like a regular. I'll be back there next week as much as possible...
