“Great burgers and awesome service. We showed up on Saturday with a group of 12 bikers. The restaurant was slammed, so we sat outside. Our waitress took great care of us and I know I will be back.“

“We went to celebrate our anniversary and the place was jumping. Live music, lovely ambiance. I had the duck breast and the wedge salad and both were spectacular. Wait staff and management were attentive but not too much, just perfect. I was pleasantly surprised overall and we will definitely return!“

“The food and service are relatively good however the drink prices are ridiculous. A tea bag costs 4 cents and they charge $3.50 for a hot tea. A normal price at most places is $2.50 or less. I only get water when I go now.“

“we had a party on 30 that arrived with a reservation just before 9pm that included 16 teenage soccer players. the staff was incredibly friendly, efficient and had fun with the girls, even getting involved with the birthday singing. It was a fun and chaotic night but they were great to work with“

“They’re are fast, fast, FAST! The young woman at the counter was so sweet and the second I told her my order she got it out in a blink of an eye and was so nice. It was busy and a customer forgot something with their order and she went running to their car to give them the items they forgot and she immediately went back to work. Food is delicious“

“The staff were friendly and accommodating.
I will explain morning a bit.
I got a" super" 8-inch pizza. Would have gotten a large if I had known how good the Pizza was.
My hubby got a large Italian grinder ( sub sandwhich for those that never heard of grinder)
Yeehaw, he said it was the best sandwich he's had in forever.
Now, the rest of the story.
We came to the restaurant on Central time. 730 pm. ordered our food and wondered why they were tearing down and cleaning. Sat down to wait for our dine in food. Realized it was actually 830pm, by now 845pm. They close at 9. I felt so bad. I didn't want to make them stay late. They, on the other hand, were so kind and told us not to hurry and to enjoy our food. We DID we ate 1/2 of our order . It was delicious. Pizza crust thin great charred on the bottom perfect,, sturdy enough to hold the fresh toppings. The sauce was perfection. I tried a bite of hubby's sandwich and stole some of the crispy cheese that baked on the side of the bread. Unbelievable. Yum,yum!!
When you're traveling you look at reviews and hope that person has a palette that can taste GOOD food. Not always the case. I can say. I am picky. I don't need fancy, I want good food. This little unpretentious joint did a great job with a smile and kindness towards the customer. I would love for this chain to open up In our neck of the woods.. They would be a HIT. Ft. CAVASOS, Central Texas would make them rich. We have little Cesar's,and The other chains, They are okay. This place would shut them down.
Thank y'all. You made this visitor to your town very happy. I highly recommend this restaurant. We are going to be in the area for a few days. I can tell you now we will be eating here again before we leave to go back home. Yeehaw Y'all.“

“This ain't no Pepperidge Farm commercial, but I remember Sunday supper at the cafe in the town where my Momma was born and raised in the Carolina pines. I done gone to Texas nigh bout 40 years ago.
tldr; flounder, chicken fried steak, banana pudding, collards.
Eating at the Lizard's Thicket tonight brought back all the memories. Kimmie was sweeter than the tea, which coincidentally was the best I've had in years. The fried flounder was so good and crisp and crunchy, I skipped the knife and fork. THEY HAVE REAL COLLARDS!! The black eyed peas were perfect.
Momma hasn't been eating as much but she cleared the plate of chicken fried steak and rice and gravy. Y'all ... the white pepper gravy was not from a mix. Cornbread was just right and not sweet. The tea, by the way, was so good. It tasted different from what I'm used to in Texas - stronger, but not dark or bitter.
The staff were wonderful. Learned a little about the history and the family that started it, so be sure to ask about the decorative plates. There's a family story in those decorations. Everyone was so nice and helpful; it really was a family atmosphere.
I'll have to update this once I eat the blackberry cobbler. Was too full to eat it there. Mom also got a banana pudding to go.
(Update: the blackberry cobbler was great, but the banana pudding was awesome! We went back several times and tried different desserts... but I would recommend the banana pudding over everything else. The pecan pie was great too but I'll miss the 'naner pudding the most.)
We will be back and will make this a regular stop on our trip to Columbia.
It's not a happy trip for us, as we're making some difficult decisions, but thanks to Kimmie and Lizard's Thicket, Momma and I shared memories of home and remembered what real Southern cooking should be.
Thanks for making this a better trip for all of us. ?
Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp and marked curbs; easy for my Mom to navigate with a walker.“

“We ordered take out tonight and let me just say it was delicious. The portions were large and cooked to perfection. The veggies were fresh and although some people do not like the veggies cut so large, I think they are perfect. Egg rolls were scrumptious and large . We had soup which was still piping hot when arriving home, house fried rice was perfection. Plenty of leftovers. Love, love, love .“
