“I felt like going on a soul food adventure today & decided to do take-out from here. When you call their number, an automated voice message will inform you that they are ONLY taking orders from: DoorDash, Postmates, and UberEats. We did pick up after ordering through DoorDash because we live in the tri-city part of East Bay. I'm not gonna lie, we did get lost so we were pretty late in picking up our food. When we picked up our food, everything was still nice and fresh. The one thing I was worried about the most was the fried foods that we had ordered. I was afraid that it would get soggy. I ordered the Smoked Brisket Platter with a side of Mac n Cheese & Potato Salad. My boyfriend ordered the Homemade Links Platter with a side of Mac n Cheese & beans. We also added some extras: Chicken Wings & a Small Seafood (Catfish) Basket. Sadly, my boyfriend didn't check the order before he brought it back to the car and realized that they gave him brisket instead of the links. But we were so hungry that he didn't mind it at all. I must say, they are highly generous with the brisket! If I could remember I had like... 8 or so pieces, or maybe i'm over exaggerating, because I ate really fast haha. Other than that, my boyfriend loved the brisket as well. The sauce was fire and I personally am not a bbq type of person, but we went here per my boyfriend's request. The mac and cheese were FIRE! I loved it, too bad we only got one scoop each, I should've ordered extra. The baked beans made my bf's eyes roll haha! He loved the pairing of the bbq with the sides. As for the potato salad... let me tell you, I HATE potato salad. Why? Because it always has to come with all this extra stuff, but this potato salad? Fire. Bomb. I don't know how else to describe it because this hit the spot for me. I HATE pickles, but for some odd reason, I still ate the potato salad even if I seen the slightest hint of minced pickles in there. I ate ALL of the potato salad. Now for the fried chicken, I felt like it didn't have any extra craziness going on, possibly because I wanted them plain. I can say that it was perfectly cooked and it paired well with my whole entree. I loved the texture of crispy fried food with tender meats and mushy entree's. My boyfriend also added catfish as an extra. Of course the fries got soggy, but that's a no-brainer since our order sat there waiting for us to arrive. The catfish itself was perfect, it did NOT get soggy. It tasted as if they washed their fish and isn't fresh from the river/lake, which is what I like. Everything we had here was exceptional, except for the sauce it came with the catfish. It was TOO pickley if that makes sense. If you love that taste, that sauce shouldn't disappoint. Everything here was perfect. The location was great as well because just down the street was a park that my boyfriend and I got to park at and eat. The pricing is pretty pricey, but I feel like it is worth it for some authentic food. I personally did not get to finish my food, so you definitely get your moneys worth here.“
