This place is as hard to describe as it is difficult to find. I’ve been looking for it when I visit Mt Pleasant for several years. It’s rustic but the food was delicious. The prices were reasonable. They seemed to be under staffed but our waitress was sweet and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant and I would come back.

The Wreck of the Richard & Charlene is a casual restaurant offering a laid-back dining experience right on the water. The food is highly praised, especially the shrimp and scallops with rice, with both cooked just right and seasoned with a subtle, aromatic house herb mix. The seafood is very fresh, as the shrimp come straight from the local fisherman next door, who also sells seafood. The seafood platter is a popular choice, and the portions are perfect with fair prices. The Key Lime Pie is a favorite dessert, and the Key Lime bread pudding is also well-liked. The restaurant provides a warm, hospitable atmosphere with friendly staff, making guests feel very welcome even when busy. Visitors often enjoy the beautiful sunset view over the marshes, with boats swaying in the harbor, creating a peaceful and beautiful setting. The vibe is super relaxed, with dining on paper plates, but the flavor and quality of the food make up for it. This spot is highly recommended for anyone near Charleston, especially to experience the authentic coastal atmosphere. It’s a place that gets everything right — the food, the setting, and the soul.
