Delicious coffee and coffee cake! It’s a charming place to hang out!
We love Cryptid! A bright, cozy coffee shop with friendly people and good food. The food menu is simple but reliably tasty. Coffee specials change frequently; lots of playful drink options outside the normal cafe standards. They have a small selection of artsy gift type items (mugs, art prints, etc) and bagged coffee.

Cryptid Coffee is a cool local coffee shop in historic Pelzer, SC, inside a building that was once a 5 & dime and an apothecary. The atmosphere feels nostalgic, vintage, and at home, with a nice amount of seating and a great upstairs for events. The staff are thoughtful, very helpful, and really nice. Drinks are crafted with names inspired by cryptids. The chupacabra latte is perfect, bold with lots of flavor and a little sweet. Other options include a mocha latte and a decaf latte with almond milk that is smooth and delicious. The coffee cake and cinnamon rolls come out fresh and hot. Prices are great for such quality food and drinks. It is a very pleasant surprise and well worth a minor detour for anyone looking for something unique. It is also a great cafe workspace for getting work done on a laptop.
