“In Gen Z language “I’m OBSESSED”. But that continues to be a really annoying phrase (to me anyway) so I’m going with “I’m developing good habits” with another meal at Magnolia Soup Company up in Sturgis, SD. Yes, we were just there 2 days ago for dinner on Saturday night.

Today’s special was a hot ham and cheese on a PRETZEL 🥨 BUN. If you know me and my love for soft pretzels, that’s all it takes and OMG was it ever delicious. It was advertised as coming with American cheese and far be it from me to question the culinary skills and menu decisions of the owner and cooks but I swapped that with Swiss. Absolute perfection!!! The absolute surprise (not really) was the Chicken Broccoli with Rice soup. I say not a surprise because the restaurant’s name clearly emphasizes an expertise and focus on soup but WOW this soup was AMAZING, so much so we grabbed a quart to take home. Absolutely magical soup skills here! As I’ve said before, fresh ingredients, great flavors, solid menu, tantalizing daily specials, and super staff make Magnolia Soup Company an absolute must.

“I had the best experience at this local winery. The staff was so friendly, and the wines were delicious. I enjoyed this so much that I joined the wine club. The atmosphere is cozy and chic; there are some pretty stunning views of the skyline and the black hills. The outdoor area would be a prime spot for summer to enjoy a crisp glass of wine.”

“I want to compliment this place - I shot pool against Doug and Jackie's team a couple weeks ago there and was blown away by the food quality. I ordered a burger cooked medium - and it came out medium. It was hot, and excellent. But what really floored me was the Rocky Mountain Oyster basket. Wow! Perfectly fried. Tender - and the sauce was really complimentary. I know where I'll be going when I'm at the salebarn next time. We might even make the drive for dinner some night and I told my friends about it too. I was told by a couple others that the food was a little expensive before ordering - and while it seemed to be a few dollars over what regional averages are- I wasn't disappointed in my meal like I often am ordering food at a "bar".”

“The dining area was cold so we asked to sit closer to the fire but they said no. Two tables near the fireplace were open the whole time we were there. Other than that, service was great. Food was awesome. We ordered the Prix Fixe menu. Price was great. Portions looked small (4oz fillet) but ended up being just perfect.”

For the manager, my only recommendation would be to have the hostess a little more welcoming and concerned about their job and maybe better communication about what to do before you get the test to go down stairs before “everyone “ gets the same text at opening. I didn’t have an issue but many were complaining about the disorganization. Will definitely be back in a next visit and no doubt a recommendation to others if you are unsure. This was also on a Kool nights week day 1.”

“We were in Saturday for a late birthday lunch and it was absolutely perfect! The food was phenomenal, everyone in our group loved what they ordered, but beyond that our server Austin was amazing. We were a little rowdy and he was great at putting up with our nonsense and was so much fun but also very knowledgeable and made great food recommendations. I had a burger that Austin recommended and it was delicious! We also really enjoyed the bar tender too but unfortunately I didn’t get her name. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!”
