Nashville, Tennessee has some great pupuserias and tonight I checked out La Esquina Pupuseria Salvadorana. Like most of the pupuserias that I have been in, this place is extremely humble and definitely offers little in the way of ambiance and atmosphere. There are a few tables and some cheap paintings and bric-a-brac hanging on the walls. Even my salt and pepper shaker were mismatched. Tucked in right next to the Kroger's is Pupuseria La Esquina #2. This is the kind of place that gringos like me tend to avoid: you don't know if you'll be welcome here. Well, ends up they are a very friendly bunch. It can feel weird to be the only Anglo person in the place, but trust me: the food is worth the journey. The pupusas here are fantastic. Had the Pollo frito it was ok, if it would of been freshly cooked, instead, it was reheated. The pupusas was decent, but not like other places I've been. The service would be awesome, if the waitress would come back to check on you! The atmosphere is very clean and relaxing!
