“We attended a sold-out concert of The Creekers at Common John’s on September 6, 2025. Despite the crowd, the staff handled everything flawlessly. The food from The Mess Hall was delish as always. The Snakebite was also a hit. Kudos to the crew at Common John’s for making it such a great night!”

“For the past couple of months my wife and I have been enjoying our Sunday lunch at the Mercantile Cafe. We have lived in the area for about 5 years now and have just recently found this great place to eat. The home cooking reminds me of my Mother’s food she fixed for me growing up. The fresh vegetables and the deliciously prepared meats, rolls and not to mention the deserts. I love the carrot cake!! All these are simply Devine. I love the crème corn, green beans and mashed potatoes. The Chicken and dressing makes every Sunday feel like Thanksgiving. I really enjoy the personal service we get when we are there as well. The owner, Renee always makes it to every table to ensure our experience was above satisfactory. The friendly service from the staff and conversation always puts a smile on our face and wanting to come back week after week. Thank you for great food and service. Highly recommend !!”

“My kids and I came in for the first time last Saturday at about 10:05 am not knowing they closed at 10:15 to prepare for lunch. We were welcomed in anyway! Our food was so good, and we even got a meal to go for lunch. Service was exceptional. We will definitely eat here anytime we are in town.”

“My friends and I stopped here for breakfast but one decided to have the lunch buffet instead. She enjoyed the variety of vegetables, the fried chicken and the peach cobbler. She really liked the salad bar variety. My other friend and I had breakfast. She had French toast and bacon, I had biscuits and gravy with fried potatoes. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. I would suggest trying the place the locals go to as opposed to a chain restaurant.”

He is pulling out boat so it was easy to stop here, but he also assured me I'd love it. He wasn't wrong! Cleanest restaurant I've seen in YEARS! Even the parking lot. I LOVE the old decor, BUT it is clean and they've updated not just kept old worn out carpet or furniture like so many places do. But they keep the vibe! Yall this is a family-owned business who clearly cares about their customer and their employees, which as a business owner is something we notice. Ok onto the food. Exceptional! They make it for you when you order. This place was doing a lot of business both sit-down and take-out. We love to support local establishments and we will be back! I complimented Mariah and the whole experience and she appreciated it and yes we tipped also! Thankful for hard-working people like Mariah and others working here today. “Great Mexican food. My husband & I both enjoyed the food. We both had Steak quesadillas. It was seasoned perfectly. He had tea and I had a margarita which delicious 😋.
