Memphis Jamaican Kitchen (Food Truck on Vance) offers authentic Jamaican cuisine with a variety of flavorful dishes. Customers praise the food for its great taste and spices, with standout plates like curry goat, jerk chicken, and oxtail. The jerk chicken and curry goat are especially popular, with the curry goat described as well-seasoned and the jerk chicken as spicy and perfect for those who enjoy heat. The menu also features vegan options, such as vegan lamb with vegan Mac n cheese and cabbage, which impress even non-vegans by being indistinguishable from real meat. The vegan dishes are flavorful and satisfying. For sides, mac n cheese and jerk pasta are highly recommended, with the mac n cheese deemed some of the best in Memphis and the jerk pasta described as "🔥." Some customers enjoy trying new dishes, like fried sweet plantains, though opinions on the plantains vary, citing dryness and blandness in some cases.
The atmosphere is described as great with a chill vibe, and staff are friendly and informative, providing explanations about the food and showing dishes to new customers. However, the restaurant can experience long wait times due to limited staff, with many noting the need for more than one cashier to handle lines efficiently. Despite occasional delays, the overall experience is positive, with many eager to return and enjoy the flavorful, well-seasoned dishes. Overall, Memphis Jamaican Kitchen is appreciated for its authentic flavors and welcoming atmosphere, making it a favored spot for Jamaican food enthusiasts.
