Benjamin and his fellow bar staff are amazing! They are so dedicated to their customers. We ate at the bar like we usually do and had a wonderful experience. You really should try the smoked tuna dip just for the crackers, we took an order to go.

We were so excited to see that GC participated in Downtown Dining Week. We had so much fun!! The food was outstanding, as always. The $20.22 punch deal was ridiculously fabulous. And, drum roll, Katherine the great was our server. So warm and helpful yet totally professional! A really good server can truly add to or take away from the dining experience. We give her and G. C. 5 stars

This place has been a frequent visit for my family to visit. The cocktails are good. Some of the bar staff has a great attitude and the waiters/waitress staff had been very kind. Tonight's myself and my fiancé popped in for a cocktail and dessert. They were 30 minutes to closing and as a waitress in a near by restaurant I understand the frustration when guests come in late and your ready to go home.... However when I serve a guest, no matter how poor the encounter, I never let a guest feel as if they weren't welcome. Our bar staff tonight was the exact opposite. All of the other bar staff was unbelievably friendly, but our main bar staff ended the night on a completely unprofessional level that 100% ruined the experience. We had tried to be friendly, we appreciated his service, after ordering our dessert my fiancé was trying to give a compliment to the chef, staff and bartenders who all play a major role in the operation of this restaurant, unfortunately our bartender took this in the wrong way and made a completely unnecessary rude remark (I would never respond to a guest this way no matter the circumstances or if they had upset me) it was simply misunderstood and was handled very inappropriately. Despite all of the other staff doing such a wonderful job- this one bartender (Who we seemed to enjoy from New Orleans) has lost our interest in ever going back or recommending to friends. It has such a great potential but no guest deserves to be treated so harshly. I wouldn't do it in my own restaurant so I was repulsed by this bar staff.

Wonderful dining experience! The space is beautiful and not crowded, the service is perfect, and the food is delicious! What more can you ask for?

We really enjoyed this place for a quick bite. The cocktails were great and loved the atmosphere.

The food was excellent. Started with the Parker rolls and smoked fish dip. The dip with flatbread was incredible. The Harbison cheese dish was a jewel. The service was a bit slow, but it appears that our waiter had two many tables. Definitely go back next time.

There's a steadily growing list of modern, chic, and flavor powerhouses that are re-shaping Memphis downtown's renaissance & restaurant scene. TGC is on it. Located about a ~5 minute drive away from Beale, this is a great stop for anyone who wants a more cosmopolitan & upscale dining experience than the scene right on Beale can offer. Apart from offering an elegant dining room/bar in a up and coming area downtown, the Old Dominick Distillery is next door, offering even more attraction to anyone touring Memphis. The menu is quite fantastic, with entrees packing diverse and quality flavor profiles for fair prices. Staff and service were friendly, patient, and had plenty of recommendations. The entrees themselves are presented beautifully and are appetizing. I came in a large group and tried: + Fried snapper - I was actually shocked on how delicious this was, because I am not a big "snapper person"- but this dish was scrumptious. I plan on ordering it for myself on my next visit. + Squash and zucchini - Equally delicious, greatly recommend as a side dish. + Hush puppies - Very savory, perfect for onion lovers. + Parker house rolls- Unexpectedly ultra delicious, because rolls are already good on their own, yet somehow they taste even better here? + TGC burger- Great option as burgers go, perfect for any pick eaters. + Smoked fish dip - My least favorite sampler, mostly because it had an strong fishy smell, although it did look and taste great. For drinks I had the "They Call Me Mellow Yellow " and the *very impressive* punch. Both are great spirted cocktails, but the punch is served in this gorgeous brass bowl for sharing- it is completely worth it. Even though the bowl comes with "small and fancy" cups- you can easily start "feeling it" after two cups. The bowl was honestly such a fun accent to our entire dining experience. As far as desserts, I sampled the +strawberry tart and + s'mores. The latter was more like a deconstructed version of a s'more- but it was SO good. The tart was pretty good, but I think it'd be best enjoyed by someone who is more of a "fruit is dessert" person. That being said, I don't think you can go wrong at TGC.

An absolutely amazing experience with the staff! Just the sweetest people and super accommodating! I had been across the hall listening to the live music and decided to check the place out, I spent the time at the bar with the kind bartenders but I loved the vibe of the place as a whole! I hope to come back to experience the food as well next time!

We recently dined mid-week at this facility. We found the service to be excellent as well as the oysters. We shared a crudo appetizer that was very fresh tasting. For dinner, my wife had the crab claws which was very interesting and delicious. For my dinner, the snapper on lima beans was not good. The fish was literally 1/4 inch thick which half was the breading. It tasted like it was just fried cornmeal. I told the waitress about this problem but it was still on our bill. Paid and left. My recommendation is to get anything else but the cornmeal breaded snapper.

This place is pretty good. It has a great vibe to it. The drinks were great. The food varied. The fish dip app was good. The rolls were good but why do i have to pay that much for 2 rolls that are probably just as good as the free bread you get elsewhere? The entrees we got (redfish and the coulotte steak) were ok. The steak was average. Best part of the plate was the fries. They were really good, but let's be honest. On a plate with a steak, I'd rather the fries not be the best part of the plate. The redfish dish was average as well. Again- the side (a Lima bean and tomato medley) was the best part of the plate. The redfish itself was very very tough, and therefore chewy. Overall- some good parts to the visit and some not so good parts.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch , I loved the restaurant design and the vibe was relaxed , I didn't like that I had trouble finding parking and had to pay , but it's downtown and to be expected , my server was great and food was super hot and tasty , oh and the bar didn't short change on the drink ! Flavor profiles are different and for a more advanced palate if you ask me but overall I enjoyed my dining experience and plan to revisit soon.

Although the hospitality and server was wonderful, the food was lack luster. Way too many dishes with smoke flavoring, small portions and very high Tori es.

I really like this location & the atmosphere is nice. The staff is friendly I ordered crab legs , peaches , baked oysters & pork tacos Ok so the crab legs. Such great flavor. Such unfresh crab. Peaches with gold beets honey and spice & hand pulled strag! I loved it. So spicy it plumped my lips. Beets were too vinegary - but it's moving in the right direction. Baked oysters ::: can't f*** those up So yummy The pork tacos! Yum. Fresh greasy tortilla. Pickled onion , elote. Fresh mint basil & cilantro. Yum.

Pretty tablescaping. Small plates seem incomplete. Country ham was basically prosciutto with cheese and breadcrumbs. Shishito peppers were charred peppers over green dressing. Dutch baby was undercooked. Shrimp and grits were average. Staff was very attentive. Seafood tower and punch bowl looked appealing.

If you haven’t been you should. The food is top notch. Really some of the best regionally. Their plays on southern food with modern twists are a delight. Service is on its way up thanks to a great manager that really is training up her staff quickly. The task is hard with the restart from Covid and she seems to be handling it with a lot of finesse. I sat at the bar and the bartender I had was great. Try it, be patient, and you won’t be disappointed. We’re all trying to get back in the groove and Gray Canary is a groove I love
