If I could give Jamaicaway 10 stars, I absolutely would!
As someone who eats a plant-based diet, finding authentic vegan Caribbean food this good is a rare treat. We ordered the vegan jerk, vegan fried chick’n, green beans, rice and peas, Johnny Cake, and a pineapple ginger drink that was incredibly refreshing. Every single bite was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the customer service. Tabby was so kind and offered us samples before we ordered, which made it easy to choose. The owners were equally welcoming, taking the time to explain each dish, how it was prepared, and answering all of our questions with genuine enthusiasm.
One thing that really stood out was their hospitality. Even after closing time, they continued serving customers instead of rushing people out the door. That level of care and commitment to their guests is something you don’t see often anymore.
If I lived closer, I’d be here all the time. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything like this in my hometown. Whenever I’m back in Nashville, Jamaicaway will be one of my first stops, and I’ll definitely be bringing friends and family with me.
Highly recommend—10/10! Authentic food, outstanding service, and some of the best vegan Caribbean cuisine I’ve ever had.

I came here at the recommendation of a friend of mine. However, after she spent about $60 on our meal, I was taking a spoonful of the rice and peas and a course short black hair was sticking out. I pulled it out, thinking it might be a stem from one of the herbs or spices in the food. However, the closer I looked, it had a hair follicle. I don’t have black horse hair and neither does my friend. We stopped eating the food after only taking about three bites. My friend went and explained it to a man who was pretty nice to her as far as understanding where she was coming from and telling her that we would get a full refund and even make our order again. But then the lady at the cash register ended up telling her that she would only do a half of a refund on just the plate, not the entire meal and not remake her food. As someone who has never been to this place, I will never be coming back because nobody was wearing a hair net I no matter how good your food taste, hygiene should always be your top priority..

I typically love this location and come here often but today I found a hair in my rice and peas, the gentleman I interacted with was very courteous and offered a refund, however the woman I interacted with told me that she would only give me half a refund on the plate, I am not trying to be problematic however, this was not what was communicated to me, and the experience overall was disappointing considering that is a kitchen hygiene issue. After spending nearly 60 dollars on this meal, a $15 refund is just insulting.

Great Jamaican food in music city at the farmer's market.
I placed an Uber Eats order curry chicken with rice and peas and yams. Overall I would rate it 7/10 on everything. Yams were fine maybe more desirable if they were in some juice. The curry chicken was alright.

The oxtails were simply stewed, not Jamaican style and lacked Jamaican flavor. I was disappointed with the oxtails and the portion. The gravy was bland and the cabbage was overcooked. This was my second time visiting the restaurant while traveling to Nashville.

The food was not the best. Collard greens had to much vinegar, the curry chicken recipe needs a redo. The lady owner has terrible customer service. Let your workers do the job. They the reason I kept my order. The gospel playing did help the mood though

We paid 27 for an oxtail plate and the food we received was days old evidenced by the taste and the texture. The meat was extremely tough and everything was overly salted. Even riddim and spice is better
