Grumpa Bear BBQ Reviews
Heading home to South Carolina from a trip to Wisconsin. Stopped in town for gas and decided it was time for lunch. We make it a policy to never eat fast food when on the road, so we decided to try Grumpa Bear BBQ. Delicious 'cue and sides, quick and very friendly service. Meat was moist and smoky, home made sauces were a real treat, and the prices were quite reasonable. We will most definitely come back next trip!
Food was great. We had a group of about 20 and the Smoked Mac is a must!! Staff is awesome as well!
We’ve enjoyed dining here three times this week, and each time has been absolutely fantastic! The food is so fresh and delicious, always served hot, and you can tell it hasn't been sitting around. The staff is super friendly, and the interior has a beautiful vibe! It’s great to know they support the police and veterans too, which makes it even better. This place is truly an amazing spot to eat!

Grumpa Bear BBQ is a fantastic family-run restaurant located near Rocky Top and Clinton, Tennessee, just off I-75. The food is delicious and a great value, with generous portions at reasonable prices. The menu features excellent smoked meats, including pulled pork with a good mild smoky flavor, outstanding burnt ends, super tender chicken, and smoked tri tip. Sides are a major highlight: the baked beans are sweet with a bit of tanginess, the potato salad is creamy with a hint of mustard, the street corn is delicious, and the mac-n-cheese is well-loved. Unique items like the BBQ egg rolls—filled with meat and cheesy mac—are considered worth the trip alone.
The sauces are excellent, including a very good smooth bourbon sauce, an original, and a unique spicy BBQ sauce. For dessert, the banana pudding is incredible, possibly the best ever had. The service is super friendly and the owners are great people, with a dedication to recognizing community servants.
The setting is a small indoor space in an old house, tucked away with a cool vibe. There is lots of outdoor seating at picnic tables, some in the sun and some under cover. This area is perfect for families, featuring kid-friendly lawn games like bean bag toss and magnetic darts to keep children occupied. It is a genuinely wonderful, family-friendly BBQ spot where you won’t be disappointed.
