Lovely experience at The Sewanee Inn. Attentive staff. Beautiful hotel!
Beautiful place . I couldn’t have been more pleased with the hospitality and the Christmas atmosphere. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. Definitely will go back !
My sister and I stayed at the Sewanee Inn for three nights while on vacation. The Shakerug Restaurant is now serving lunch so after a lot of walking, we decided to do lunch. It was so good-I highly recommend a visit for anyone who appreciates a great meal done right.

The atmosphere is upscale, located inside a nice hotel, with great indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff is super friendly, providing impressive service throughout the meal. The menu includes fantastic options like burgers, Brussel sprouts, and chicken with pepper-infused honey on waffles. The Authentic lamb Shepherd's pie is a standout, reminiscent of flavors from Germany. The sirloin is super tender and juicy, even when fully cooked, paired with their homemade steak sauce. Breakfast portions are great and convenient for those staying at the Inn. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available. Despite some negative reviews, the overall experience was fantastic, making Shakerag a recommended spot for a meal in the area, with a promise of a satisfying dining experience.
