the pupusas are DELICIOUS
One of my favorite spots in Abilene, try the fried plantains.
The food was delicious and authentic! I loved the pupusas with repollo and salsa roja. The restaurant was clean, but it looked like it was being remodeled.

El Pulgarcito de America | Latin American is a divey, family-owned hole in the wall with surprisingly amazing food. The humble couple running it offers a warm welcome. Try the Pupusas—they are fluffy, gooey, and yummy with flavorful pork. The mojarra frita (fried tilapia) is delicious, with a saltwater taste like fresh ocean catch. The barbacoa platter is super delicious, flavorful, and juicy, and the plantains bring tears of joy. Mexican foods are also available, including a breakfast burrito with meat and potatoes, and chicken flautas that are crispy with good flavor. The salsa is tasty, not too spicy. Expect mismatched chairs and booths in this humble restaurant with great service. It is cheap for the amount of food, and you will not be disappointed.
