“This place is GOLDEN! Came here for a late lunch with my folks while I was in town. I wish it could give it 10 stars! Chips are like none I’ve ever had before. I knew this place would be good based off the chips and salsa and queso. Amazing! I had the chicken fajita lunch plate and was very pleasantly surprised at the portion size for the price. Taste was awesome and service was top notch! I will definitely be back when I visit Abilene!“
“They don't just bring you chips and salsa they bring you 5 or 6 different styles of salsa and queso. There was a waiting time for a table but it was lunch time on a Saturday. That's understandable. We just grabbed a seat at the bar which is perfect if you drink or love to watch sports. The bartender was fantastic.. we'll be back. Oh if you have room for dessert try the cheese cake!!!!!“
“Very hit or miss. I ordered the brisket enchiladas and they were pretty good. Plenty of meat, everything tasted good from the hatch chili sauce to the corn tortillas. It was listed with the "spicy" symbol next to it on the menu, but honestly I didn't find it very spicy. The chips were good, the salsa tasted like it had a lot of black pepper in it??? I didn't really touch the salsa, but I am usually very picky about salsa. This one I just didn't like. What threw me for a loop though was the rice. It was unlike any Mexican rice I have ever had (in a bad way). It was really indescribable. It felt more like an Asian fried rice with Mexican flavors, but the texture was unlike either style. The taste wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I did eat the rice, but I would never order it again. I'm sure some people love it and they would not be wrong. I just found it to be so strange. Service was fine, I ordered takeout so I didn't get much interaction. Overall it was decent but I don't think it was entirely for me.“
“I was in Abilene last weekend for my grandmother's funeral and the family went to Rojas for breakfast one morning. I was a little concerned when we drove up but that was quickly set aside by a very friendly lady at the counter when we ordered. The breakfast was great! I had the Huevos Ala Mexicana with Barbacoa, which was incredibly tender. One of the specials was horchata and it was so refreshing and not too sweet. The star to me though was the salsa!!! It's spicy but that is what I love. I'm glad we drove to Abilene because I got a quart of the salsa to take home!! If I drive anywhere near Abilene, I'm making a special trip to Rojas!!“
“The new drive thru is awesome ?, thank you Emmanuel for the add it just makes Los Carmales that much more amazing. Also big shout out to Elias for always having the best customer service no what what the circumstances are. Also have to say the food is ALWAYS on point best authentic Mexican food in Abilene hands down. Thank you all for your service to our community may God continue to bless you.“
“Ignore anyone complaining about the decor. It is AWESOME! It would be tragic if they ever updated the inside. It’s so special, so real and so rare, full of beautiful vintage Mexican art from the 1930s through the 1970s. And the food is the best Mexican food you will probably find within 200 mile radius. I’m from San Antonio, the birthplace of modern Tex Mex, and this food is the real deal and beats out or rivals the best of San Antonio! I’m also a huge food snob (in that I really appreciate well made dishes) and this place never disappoints ❤️“
“The food was AMAZING! I always expect to put a little salt on my food, but none was needed! From the tacos to the beans and rice, all of it was perfectly seasoned! They have 2 fold up tables set in front of their truck. It was clean and relaxing!“
“I was not expecting how fancy this establishment was when I walked in. The service is good, just takes a while. The queso was absolutely delicious! My tacos were good, but they were more filled with toppings rather than meat, very little meat. The rice is not good, super dry & hard.“
“My food is usually great. My last visit, got cold chewy flour tortillas . Im not a complainer. Won't send it back. All the rest of the food was great!Parking: Nail shop attached to bldg will harras and has posted ownership of most of the parking spots.Wheelchair accessibility: Its spacious on the inside seems like most will fit“
“Traditionally, I really enjoy this place and its food. My most recent visit I got the full order of Asada Fries no guacamole. Unfortunately the put guacamole under 1/4 of the dish, making that part inedible. The other 75% was good though. I got it to go. So I was not going to drive back.“
“Food was ok. I had tapatíos, sister had enchiladas, daddy had parrillada. Service was ok but the majority of waitresses seemed to be in the back and none of them helped our waitress with anything. She had to clean, take orders and serve all alone and somehow she still did a decent job.“
“My wife and I come to this place quite often but the food was a little off this time. Those ladies are know for good food and the salsa is good but today was not good, the burritos are good for the price, quality over quantity is always the best.“
“Took way to long to take our order. We were in the very room. They were a little busy. But not supper busy. We had to ask for some one to take our order. And when we need more tea. We had to ask for that. They seated several people after we came in and took their orders. I tod thr cashier it felt like we were invisible. Not happy at all“
“As a Texican whose family has for generations called Tejas, my beloved state, you all know as the great state of Texas, home long time before this great state became part of the United States of America. My family jokingly say, we didn't cross the border, the border crossed us. We have lived and loved these beautiful, blessed parts enjoying true Mexican cuisine from recipes handed down from generations. La Pop's food comes close to my family's home cooked recipes. They've added some Tex-Mex flair, but never-the-less, most definitely the closest homecookng Mexican food around. Don't be fooled by other expensive and fancy restaurants. Nothing comes closer to my family's home cooked recipes than La Pop. Take a step back to the past days of yesteryear and allow yourself to experience what homemade Mexican food with a touch of Tejano flair is truly made. Your tummy will love it.Vegetarian options: They will cook your meal upon request and specifications.Dietary restrictions: They will cook your meal according to dietary restrictions if you upon request and give specifications.Parking: Located on Arnold Blvd close to Dyess Air Force Base.Kid-friendliness: A place the whole family can enjoy.Wheelchair accessibility: Built with wheelchair accessibility.“
“I always say, If you want to try tasty and family food, go to the tiny restaurants, those that since you open the door they treat you like one of their friends even if it's the first time walking in there. La Familia Restaurant is one of those places, it's a happy place, good service, great food, super clean and good deals.“
“First time here, and wow, how I was surprised at just how everything was delicious! I would have posted some pics, but I couldn't stop eating! If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant with delicious food this is the spot!Kid-friendliness: Made the kids grilled cheese.“
“February 24, 2024Our go to Tex-Mex place.I had the Herrera special #5.One Tamale, 2 beef enchiladas, 1 taco, beans and rice and guacamole. My lady had a children's plate , a beef enchilada with rice and beans. Our server was very friendly and checked in us often. If you read any of my recent reviews, you'll note whether or not the establishment charges for water. This one does not.“
“Pretty sure this isn't a chain resturant? Driving thru the area and needed a quick cheap dinner and found this hole in the wall! Place was clean, and the food was really good. Expecting it to be a little cheaper (but guess Bidenomics has messed that up?) but all in all, we thought it was a very good place to eat, and would/will be back for round 2 when back in the area.“
“Was driving by when I stopped on a whim. Man at counter wouldn’t respond when I asked questions in English or in Spanish. I ordered the Pupusa plate and a small fountain drink and was charged $16. There were no prices anywhere and I didn’t think to google their menu. Afterwards I discovered I was overcharged. The pupusas had texture of wet sand, couldn’t pick them up. Beans had weird spoiled taste. Rice was very bland. Very disappointed. Will not return.“
“While the place isn't in the best area the food was good. The issues I had were the lid not fitting on the to-go plates. The excuse the manager gave was that they changed packaging. He went through 3 lids before he came to that conclusion. Another staff member tried two others. Serving orders in plates without lids is asking for trouble. Spills and messes are inevitable at that rate. Other than that the price for what you get is decent. Tea and ice are delicious. Caffeinated drinks are available too. If you don't like mega sweet tea get half and half. Ample parking. Handicap accessible. I would definitely visit again.“
“I love, love, love the beef nacho deluxe. They do not come with jalapeños, so I order them on the side. The half order is more than 1 person could eat! I like that they serve Pepsi products too. I would recommend Alfredo's to my family and friends. The prices are good too! Come by, grab some to go or eat in, then enjoy! ?My sister says the rolled tacos are to die for ... ?“
“This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in Abilene. With a combo of Cuban and Mexican dishes, there's such a great variety and good food to choose from! We got the stuffed pineapple and Aye Dios Mio and they were incredible (yes that's HALF a grilled pineapple and a bacon wrapped burrito). “
“So mouth watering great!Vegetarian options: What ever you want they'll make it for you for sure!Dietary restrictions: Any dietary restrictions should be told to the waiter so they can inform the ciik before they prepare your plate for your bestest satisfaction guaranteed!Parking: Great so spacious!Kid-friendliness: Great folks!Wheelchair accessibility: It's the most greatest wheelchair accessible place I've ever seen before!“
“The facility is always clean. The staff are always amazing. The food is prepped fast and we always get it fast. The location at Allen Ridge is fantastic. The pond offers an excellent air of relaxation and tranquilityParking: Being a lot that shares the locale with a few other restaurants, parking can be a hassle during certain hours. Especially on a weekend.“
“STOP AND COME HERE. Amazing food and service it is only a 5 minute drive off of I -20 just call ahead and pick it up through the drive through you don’t even have to get out of your car. What else could you ask for. These are authentic tacos with various salsas with just the right amount of kick. This is the only place I’ll ever go to in this area.“
“My friend told me about this place and I liked it for my first experience. A young girl attended me and she recommended I try the pupusa trio since it’s one of their popular dishes. It came with three pupusa which all of mine had beans and cheese with a side of rice and beans with cabbages. The food was flavorful as for the chips, they were fresh and a bit of salt sprinkled on them. The girl was nice and didn’t bother too much like most waiters would. Will be coming back!“
“We went to eat today's and thought we would try this place we love Mexican food we went out n and ordered the street tacos steak and they were so good. And my husband got the chicken fajitas and they were sizzling coming out they were so good cooked just right. So we said when we left we would be back there. The food was great I would recommend them to anyone.“
“We absolutely loved the food!! Salsa was fantastic and the fajitas were amazing!! Great atmosphere and very friendly staff!!! This will be the only Mexican restaurant we eat!!Parking: Large parking in the back with easy access to the patio and restaurant!! We were greeted by several young daughters eager to seat us!!!“
“I live in Texas where you can spit and hit 3 good Mexican restaurants. My husband travels for our living. We long to come back to this fast food cafe when we are home. The fajitas, are the tastiest. We will come to buy some of their tortillas just because they are freshly made! Love this place!“
“First time at Torchy's! Cute place. The menu is very interesting. I had a "Trailer Park Taco" in a bowl. Fried chicken was tender and tasty! It was covered with slaw and a yummy sauce! It was just the right size and price for me! Next time, I am trying the Fried Avocado Taco!!!“
“I think we just found our new favorite restaurant in Abilene. I got the burrito bowl, and hubby got beef fajitas. His fajitas were still sizzling hot when served, and he enjoyed every last bite. My burrito bowl was like the food of the gods (seasoned and cooked to perfection). The wait staff was friendly and always checking in to make sure everything was satisfactory, far beyond what I had come to expect in Abilene. We will be returning customers, and recommend this place to anyone that enjoys delicious food at a restaurant quiet enough that you can actually hear yourself think.“
“I love Fuzzys! I came from the FW area and you guys blow them out of the water! My orders always come out just how I've requested them and never disappoint. My husband and I love to come in for the Shrimp Baja Tacos and a Marg (or two if we're feeling crazy) after a round of golf on the weekends. The service is great and staff is very attentive. I've even had to "fight" with some staff (Aidan) when I've tried to clear my own table. Fuzzys is my go-to joint for tasty food, yummy drinks, and a chill atmosphere.“
“Great small restaurant, good food. Menudo was being chugged by people inside, I didn't think because so many places no longer offer it so kicking myself. This isn't fancy, boogie good, this is what mom and dad made us, the carne guidada, barbacoa. Eat and enjoy no pretense. Just bring done patience and an appetite.“
“Love this place!! This was my 2nd visit to this location and both times I was blown away. The customer service is outstanding. We had a decent size group tonight and we were all able to sit comfortably, all able to laugh and be ourselves in such a welcoming atmosphere!! Thanks Rosa's for the opportunity to enjoy this memorable time!!“
“Our first time! Recommended by a friend. We were a group of three and arrived around 11:15. Excellent food, service and dining room. Looking forward to a return visit! Can't wait to get back home to Brownwood and tear into one of these sun warmed flour tortillas!“
