Was not at all what we were expecting. Over cooked or recooked crawfish. Snow crab was just so so.
Used to come every week and it's been awhile. But came for a couple lbs of shrimp. I know its Friday and it's busy. Normally we get Dara who is always fantastic and already knows what we want. We were brought one lb of shrimp and when I told the waitress that it wasn't 2 lbs she insisted it was. Went to WaWa's today, and waited in line to be seated. No biggie, it's Friday, I get it. Get seated at a corner table, and wait to order. Waitress goes to table in front of us (which was seated after us), and the big table beside us. Never us. I know we're her table, we're a corner table, and she has the table next to us, and the big table to the side of us. Wouldn't make sense for it to be anybody else's table. WaWa's Seafood Shack in Athens offers delicious seafood dishes that won't disappoint. The Mozzarella Cheese Bites are a must-try, and the 4 piece catfish basket comes with generous portions. The catfish, fries, and hush puppies are all tasty. Customers have been impressed by the size of the crawfish, which are cooked perfectly and are very large. Oysters are fried correctly and taste great. The service is excellent, with many friendly and attentive staff members. The restaurant is kept clean and neat. The food was very good, and the burger was great. Fried pickles were on point, and the fish platter with fries, coleslaw, and grilled potato salad was a good choice. The slaw was a bit dry, but the fish and hush puppies were amazing and fresh. Boudin rolls as well as the shrimp and combo baskets were good. For those craving fish, shrimp, corn, coleslaw, and tarter sauce, this place comes highly recommended. If you're in the Athens area, WaWa's Seafood Shack is worth a visit for authentic Louisiana-style seafood.
