The food was way overpriced considering that it was really nothing special. The wait staff was not very attentive. The waitress who took the order was relatively absent after we placed the orders. While there was a bread plate at every place setting, we had to ASK for bread and it wasn't served until we were almost done with dinner. The broccolini on my plate was barely cooked. While I like my vegetables crisp, this was hard as a rock.
The atmosphere and the interior are nice and unique. Unfortunately the food is extremely overpriced. I don't mind paying $170 for a dinner with 2 appetizers and 2 entries, NO alcohol; but the food has to be really well made and interesting. In this case the food was just OK, I wouldn't have ordered it again even for much lesser cost.

French Margaritas - Refreshing! Blue Cheese Beignets - Outstanding! Escargot Vol Au Vent - Delish! Trout Almondine - buried in too, too many toasted, dry almonds; fish itself was unremarkable. Other diners in our party all had Steak Frites - frites were over salted. Entrees were all either lukewarm or verging on cold. Noise level made it impossible for a table of 5 to have a conversation, despite practically shouting. Willing to give it another try but difficult to recommend after last night.

The steak frites was fine once the meat was replaced with a rarer cut - it came out medium at first. The bone marrow was excellent and my friend enjoyed his roasted chicken. The service was very good and I was comped for a glass of wine as it was my birthday.

Terrible service and overpriced for the (poor) quality. I won't come back.

The whole team were incredibly good, but Nicole stands out as an incredible server. The food was spectacular with a variety of options along with a drink selection that both pairs with your starters and meals very well but also stands out on its own.The atmosphere was just wonderful. They’ve done an incredible job making an environment that is great for a date, a girls hangout night or any social gathering.

1417 provides an enchanting dining experience. My partner and close friends and family surprised me with party/proposal in this beautiful setting. The moment couldn't have been more perfect, and I'll forever be grateful to 1417 for providing the backdrop to such a special memory.

I would highly recommend this venue ? for fine dining and special occasions. The atmosphere was quiet and welcoming. The food was out of this world. We ordered oysters at $8/ea that were on the small side, but very good. Our entree was steak frites with broccolini. It was amazing. Be careful when looking for the restaurant as it is a little brown building that is easy to drive by.....but don't! It is insanely delicious. I'll be going back.
This was my second time and it was not the same positive experience I had the first time. The service was extremely slow and the food was just ok. If you are going to charge these prices the food has to be better. The duck was dried out and tough. Very disappointing and nothing like my first experience when it was cooked to perfection.
1417 French Bistro is my favorite restaurant in Austin. I always feel transported to some beautiful imaginary world when I'm there. The people that work there are all perfectly helpful, polite, funny. Steak night is wonderful but we love the escargot and the gnocchi also. Marc made us feel at home and provided outstanding service.

Fantastic gourmet classic French food. Escargot top my lifetime list! Trout also fine was one of a kind and delicious. Ambience at night glows with golden light. Service is so friendly and thoughtful. Make it a regular on your list!

1417 French Bistro was excellent. Attended an event and the place really stepped it up and created a warm, inviting and delicious experience. The place was nice, clean and charming. The layout was great and there were so many nice furnishings. The food was delicious too. The blue cheese beignets were so tasty. One of the highlights was the French onion soup. Incredible. The main course of steak frites was also amazing. Everything tasted so good and we topped it off with a crème brûlée for dessert. The service was really good and I walked out knowing I’d return and tell others how cute the place was and how great the food tasted.

Inviting space with a modern feel. The oysters were nice sized, beignets are excellent, French onion soup is a highlight, beef was cooler to perfection, and trout was a true standout. Desserts are very tasty and wine list is pleasing.
Had a great experience here! Service was wonderful and the food was excellent. You can tell that the staff had put a lot of attention to the details.
