cafe food and the feeling at this spot is very good. This location is absolutely outstanding. Quick and friendly service. This place has a great feel to it. Feeling here is similar to a cafe in San Jose I liked.

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was about 9am and we got there just as someone was leaving so we were able to get a table quickly. There were maybe 6 tables and some bar space. The food was prepared quickly, the service was kind and helpful (but busy),and the food tastes great! Nice food but help home cooked. Delicious, we'll be back and it's definitely a good place to eat I'd you're visiting.

Whenever I want breakfast food or brunch, this is the first place that pops into mind. Counter Cafe is a little restaurant that serves most customers at a long old-school diner counter, with the food being prepped right before your eyes. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and I never had to wait to have my coffee refilled. With regards to the breakfast foods; it's arguably the best in Austin. Yeah...I said it. The Eggs Benedict with bacon and breakfast sausage is an all-time favorite. I highly recommend you check this little gem out. Just make sure you arrive early on weekends, otherwise, the line will literally be out the door.

Fun place to eat! Loved sitting at the counter and watching the food get made. Our meal was delicious and I came back a second time a few weeks later. This is a small space so plan ahead/prepare to wait to be seated!

We enjoy the ambiance of this eclectic diner that serves a variety of breakfast & lunch options. In addition to great food, the service is excellent, so it is a wonderful Austin experience.

The place itself is reeeeally small, so it can be hard to find a spot especially if you have a party larger than...2. Great little spot for a brunch date though! I ordered the breakfast tacos, and they were good. I definitely enjoyed my meal, but I probably could have ordered something a little bit more adventurous, and definitely have had better breakfast tacos in Austin. But it was worth the money I spent for it, and I have been back since then! It's a great place to feel cozy, get a warm cup of coffee, and have good, consistent breakfast food.

Good breakfast and lunch joint in a tiny diner setting. Most menu items are delicious but the crab cakes were just average.

This is a great place for breakfast and legendary in Austin. I will say the food certainly lives up to its reputation and I recommend you give this place a shot. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care if you like it or not. The service here is not great and definitely not friendly.

Initially planned on going to 24 Diner but they had a 40 minute wait so we walked to Counter Cafe. Got a shared table immediately outside, which was ok on a sunny day, but you have to eat awfully fast or breakfast gets cold. Fresh squeezed OJ was great, Breakfast Sandwich good, wouldn't recommend Corner Benedict, I didn't care for the presentation, sauce or pastrami.

Used to be terrific. Been coming here since they opened. Today's breakfast was a disaster. The misshapen hotcake was so cold the butter wouldn't spread & it was tough. The server had the nerve to tell me it was hot off the griddle. Well maybe it was 20 minutes before it was served. & to argue with the customer, really? The hamburger, which used to be their star, was also tepid and tough, not any better than MickeyD's & $14 to boot. Won't be back, there are many other restaurants in Austin that care about the quality of food and also about simple service.

Lovely little cafe. Servers were nice. Wasn't crowded when we went. Food came out quickly and was delicious.

How shall we consider this? A hipster's notion of a greasy spoon? "An Austin Tradition". A "hidden gem"? Something like that. Ok, so it's unfashionable looking. Wanna guess when the decor was last updated? Hey, if you go to a diner for the decor you're probably the type of a guy with a man-bun. So much for first impressions: I love places that don't try too hard. Second impressions: the menu mentions that their burger was (at one time; there is an aging copy of Texas Monthly framed on the wall) considered #2 in Texas. I will try that out next time I go there. This time however I was struck by two items featuring Quail. That's unusual to say the least. So that's what I ordered. Grilled, very juicy, very tasty, and served with a generous spinach salad with feta cheese and strawberries. Definitely a place I will come back to.

Cozy unexpected. Old time atmosphere. Great food and service. If you look past the size and one restroom, your good.

Food was really good! Was recommended to me by long time Austin residents and did not disappoint.
