I like El Sunzal very much. Salvadoran cuisine is a style of cooking and recipes which Austin doesn't really get much of. I particularly like the Salpicon and the Sopa de Mariscos.

This is the third time I've been to El Sunzal and the third time I've been floored with how amazing the food is. The pupusas are heavenly and the curtido that accompanies them is slap your momma good. Don't try to eat one without the other. Please. I tried the tamale de puerco and it was good but the ratio of meat to masa was very different from what I'm used to. That's a me problem not a them problem. The plátanos were freshly cooked and made me want to hop on the next plane to Central America. Yum! My biggest complaint has absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant. We placed an online order using the Seamless platform that brags about not having service fees. What a joke!! The prices they have for the menu items is so jacked, the "no service fees" is an insult. I've included a photo showing the differences in prices you pay using that platform versus the actual menu prices. Honestly, I'd be fine with it if I thought the restaurant was actually getting a cut. Maybe they are?? Even the woman that gave us our food recommended we just call it in next time. Save yourself some money and use it to buy more pupusas or increase your tip! Note: the restaurant itself is very unassuming and humble. No matter to me. I'm there for the food not the tablecloths.

Probably the best restaurant to get popusas and sopa de mariscos. 5/5 for food. Knocked it down a star due to all the disposable plastic ware used. Be prepared to wait a bit for food to be ready. Today (9/28) their card reader was down so was cash only.

Drive 30 minutes to go to this place! Google and the entry said they closed at 5, I arrived at 3, there were 2 hours left to close and they said they no longer had service!!!! False hours and terrible customer

EL Sunzal is amazing! Everything that I have ever tried has been a 10/10. The people that own El Sunzal and that work there are equally as amazing!! Highly recommend!

Their menu is so authentic and tasty. i've been going here for years and i love that it's just as good as my family's home cooking. The best pupusas in Austin for me.

Great pupusas, food is ok, but this is a very basic restaurant.

What I did not like is that they take a long time to serve the food, they do not put chips or salsa

Absolutely one of my favorite spots for pupusas! Get the pupusas revueltas and you will not be disappointed. I love the plantains with beans and crema. This is a gem and an authentic place
